if its a pilot lightr that stays lit all the time,then its the thermocouple next to the pilot light thats bad and cant keep the pilot on

you may need to replace thermocouple and re-try it....good luck.

the polit light lights but when you let the nob go for the oven burner to come on the polit light goes out

Hello, The thermocouple may have buildup on it. Try to chean the thermocouple which is the small rod going through the oven pilot. You will have to blowout the pilot and clean the thermo with fine frit sandpaper or some guys use a dollar bill. Just shine it up light the pilot and see if it lights.

How old is the stove-- for most ovens these days have electric Glow Ignitors-
Are you sure yours has a gas pilot?

If so-- there has to be a way of pushing in a 'pilot' button, to get the gas to start,
and there has to be a hole or area you can get to the gas burner/pilot, with a match, at the time you are pushing in on the Pilot lite

most new oven's, gas or electric you do not lite....you may have a defective unit....
if its real old, you oven knob should say pilot...if not you have a newer oven...

then you have a defective pilot system

make sure the thermocouple is positioned above pilot light this part needs to be heated up by the pilot light to keep gas going to the pilot light. if the thermocouple is positioned above pilot light and it doesn't stay light, replace thermocouple.

Hello. It sounds like, from what you said, you have a new thermocouple. The device it is attached to, the pilot safety, could have a problem internally that allows gas to the pilot, but does not open the main part of the valve, or electrically has failed on the main coil. If you have a thermostat with wires on it, you can jumper the wires, to bypass it, temporarily please, if it comes on, you need a thermostat, if not, it is the valve most likely.

Hi there, it is possible of the pilot being too close, but usually does not have that effect, unless the pilot is too small. But if you replaced the pilot, it should be clean, so next I would look at the gas pressure, if this is too low, the flame won't have proper burning speed, and strength, and could get drawn out. The control valve may be of the type that has a regulator built in, you may need someone skilled at gas pressure measuring, to do this, your gas supplier, appliance professional, plumber, should be able to do this.

I have a whirlpool accubake system / super capacity 465 oven ... the top burners do fine...but my oven pilot went out... and I don't know how to re-lite the pilot... the owners manual doesn't help ... it doesn't show anything a layman could understand ... no visual illustrations ... when I turn on the oven ... the display shows that it's been activated... it clicks a couple of times but does not light ... what is a simple way to re-light the pilot? thanks, A
