Hi - I have a 2002 jeep liberty. I was driving down the highway going 70 miles per hour and it went into limp mode. Stopped and disconnected battery to reset codes. Started driving again and it made the 1-2 shift. On the 2-3 shift it drug the shift and went back into limp mode. I believe it may have broke the screws on the accumulator cover and let the 2-3 accumulator dislodge out of the bore. Is this possible or what are your thoughts?

This is known as "get me home" mode/limp mode.
It is designed for you to get the car safely to the side of the road. Needs to go to a garage as there is a fault somewhere which will probably need attaching to a computer to investigate.
Hi, limp mode or (limp-in mode or limp-home mode)occurs when your computer in your car is not communicating with the sensors on your engine. On some cars(volkswagon Passat for example) If you disconnect the battery then the computer will lose all of the settings and will go into limp-in mode. The car will have little power and a top speed of only about 30 miles per hour. The function of limp-in mode is to get you to a place that can repair the car but the car is barely drivable.
Sounds like your sending unit sensor - if it was your pump going out, your engine would be history by now. Rule of thumb, if your oil check light ever comes on, it's usually too late to remedy the problem. You have a major issue, but since you've obviousely drove it quite a bit since then and it still hasn't seized up, I'm guessing you're ok...for now. Since you took it to a shop and they said you're ok, I'm assuming they checked your level and visually checked for leaks and found nothing. Either, you've got somethijng partially blocking your pick-up tube for the pump which is in your oil pan, or a electrical issue with the sensor. I would start by having someone check the sensor out and go from there...good luck.
when was the last time you put in fuel injector cleaner? I put in Lucas Oil Injector cleaner every other or every oil change.
There are alot of factors affecting your gas mileage. Tire wear, tire pressure, wheel alignment, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, oxygen sensors, just to name a few. So to say what you need is just shooting in the dark without more information. I would probably start with your oxygen sensors, and then perform a tuneup. If your vehicle pulls to one side or the other when driving on the highway you need to stop into the shop for a wheel alignment.
