Replacement phone just rec'd yesterday. Very low battery. On charger now. Cannot get past this screen. Cannot even use phone!
Charge the phone at least overnite. Sometimes a replacement phone may arrive with a totally dead battery and the charger may not be able to put out enough current to operate the phone and charge it at the same time. If you want it to charge faster use a plug in charger with an output rating of 2 amps. They usually have 2 USB outputs and can charge two devices at the same time. If you only charge one device it's a piece of cake for the charger. .

I have the same problem running os 10.4.9 and iTunes 7.3 and have yet to figure thos one out. Try turning off auto detection in iphoto. Chances are that iphone not only looks like an ipod to the computer but also a digital camera. I actually use thos feature to organise my photos so o havent tried it yet.

I just had this problem and it turned out to be... It didn't like my iPod cable. Switched to the iPhone cable and it worked.
Seems to be an iPhone 2.0 prob, or 3g prob, since I was using the iPod cable to sync my old iPhone just fine.

Where did you purchase your phone? however, you first need to update itunes to 8.0.2, that might solve your problem. Unless you have an unlocked phone then restoring your phone is useless because when you restore an iphone with itunes in the US without an att sim card it will actually lock the phone, but I do not think that is your issue. the two things you are seeing the connect to itunes and the emergency call system means that your phone is not properly activated. which is done by connecting it to itunes.

Hi slondon83,
I believe you will have to reflash your device, using the restore feature on iTunes and the CFU mode in you iPhone.
To restore your iPhone, you will have to enter to CFU mode:
1. turn off your phone, or wait it get turned off by itself.
2. press and hold the power button for exactly 3 seconds.
3. whithout leaving the power button, press the HOME button for another 10 seconds exactly.
4. after 10 seconds leave the power button but still, keep the HOME button pressed.
try all these steps, of course, while you iPhone is connected to your computer with the USB cable and the iTunes software is on.
you might be able to do it with this method too:
good luck!
