Sounds like the encoder strip. There's a hook on one side, itgoes through a slot in the printhead, near the top in the back, and a spring to hook it on the other side. Hard to put back without taking the covers off.

Pump stall hp cp1700

I know this is years old, but just in case someone else has this problem....

I just had this problem and fixed it quite easily.

Like you, my ink cartridge flooded the ink bay and caused the printer to complain about a pump stall.

Mine was fixed by taking the cover off (u don't need to) and cleaning all the ink off the white strip.

Basically, there's a white piece of plastic with a metal rectangle on it. it sites to the left of the thing under the print heads (the part doesn't move. Under the big part with all the print heads) and to the right of the paper rollers.

It's also the thing that stops the print heads from moving when they're not to be moving.

Mine was covered in black ink. I cleaned it off and turned on the printer to find it working again and no more "pump stall" messages.

I don't know what the plastic piece is for, but cleaning it fixed my problem. Also there's no "pumps" in the printer (it uses gravity to feed the ink).

I have a Dell A960. There is a piece of styrofoam jammed at the base of the paper intake feed and I can't get to it. Is there something I can remove to access it? Opening the printer top doesn't...

I don't know if that printer has a rear access panel, so here's a little trick....uncurl a thin paperclip, putting a loop at one end for your finger, and a barb bend at the other end (think of the sharp part of a fish hook) at the other end, Use the hook to grab and remove the Styrofoam.
Another solution, although more tricky and potentially dangerous, is to put some crazy glue on the end of a piece of cardboard, and try to glue the end of the cardboard to the Styrofoam and gently remove the cardboard, hopefully with the styro in tow!

I have a jvc kdavx1 trying to hook up to a 2000 buick reagal need to know how the wires hook up

Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

2000 Buick Regal Car Stereo Install Diagram jvc kdavx1
Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Orange yellow
Radio Ignition Switched 12V+ Wire: Yellow red
Radio Ground Wire: Black/White black
Radio Illumination Wire: Gray/Black orange/white
Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Tan white
Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Gray white/black
Right Front Speaker Wire (+): Light Green gray
Right Front Speaker Wire (-): Dark Green gray/black
Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): Brown green
Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Yellow green/black
Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Dark Blue purple
Right Rear Speaker Wire (-): Light Blue purple/black
parking brake: blue light green

For this last wire, access the back of the parking brake to find a switch with a blue wire. Peel some insulation from the wire and wrap the stripped end of a 3 foot piece of 16 or 18 gauge wire around the stripped section. Solder and wrap the connection with electrical tape, route the wire to the jvc, then strip and solder the other end to the pigtail of the head unit.

If you are also installing a camera seeing behind you when backing, you will need to run a wire to the back-up light on the driver side reverse light (light green) wire along with your video cable.

I accidentally pulled out a long skinny plastic strip from my canon pixma mp190 how to i reattach it.

That long plastic strip has very light lines going through it and is called an encoder strip. You will need to take the machine apart somewhat to get that back on. It connects on either end to two metal pieces after it goes through a sensor. You may be able to do that while it is in one piece but I know I couldn't. Take the top off and it's a lot easier.

I opened my emp x3 because it wont turn on. there is some kind of strip that runs from the cover and seems to connect to the main board but it is disconnected, is that the problem? Where would I connect...

The wiring strip you are referring to runs from the control board on the top of the projector to a slot connector on the big circuit board below. That connector is on the edge of the big board facing the front of the projector, about two inches from the left (when facing the projector front). You'll know which one it is because it has black piece on top of it that pulls up. To reconnect the strip, pull up the black piece and slide the blue bottom part of the strip in the slot opening on the front of the connector. Then push the black piece back down.

White strip on copy

While you make an printout, open cover when the paper is approx. in drum section.Remove drum, and you will see the picture on it, if the piece of picture missing, that is your white strip. On the drum you will see two blue small handles with markings pull. Dismantle it with help of this handle and you will be able to see the developer unit ( magnetic roller cover with toner ). If the white stripe also on it change developing unit, and drum unit.

Calibration strip location

I got my answer from a very helpful scanner expert from a posting on the newsgroup comp.periphs.scanners. The plastic piece went near the end of the bezel that holds the glass above the starting position for the scanning run. Once I knew the idea, locating where it went was easy because of small indentations in the bezel the shape and size of the plastic piece. Thanks.

Piece has fallen out of printer

Yea I had the exact same problem with my Lexmark X1185
Was very lucky I didnt throw out the clear strip thingie before learning what it was :)

Anyways the strip itself passes through a shader sensor located on the rear or the cartridge carrier.( see pic 1 ) .

The second picture shows everything else in close detail Including which side of strip goes where.

Pay attention to the spring (circled in yellow) because i believe it is the cause of the whole problem...The spring end was pulled straight or has too little tension .
