Re: cannot use on/off button

If you can turn the machine on and off, you have the code. your volume control (button) could be damaged, stuck in one position.
Get a can of that "compresed air" and place it inbetween the rubber (if it is rubber) volume control. see if that loosens it up.

What is the code to program a Zenith digital converter box?

If you have a recent GE remote, it may have a code for your Zenith STB. The code list included in the package with the remote may include it. In any event, you can use the code search feature of the remote to find a code that will work. if you search through all codes stored in the remote without success, you may have to try another universal remote. All universal remotes do not contain all possible codes.

I got a Zenith vcr model VRC4203C and I can't have a code for my URC-386 remote... can help ?

If your remote is programmable, you can use its code search feature to find a suitable code. If a thorough search through all codes stored in the remote does not succeed, you may have to try another programmable remote.

I ACCIDENTLY PUT MY VHS ON CABLE MODE AND NOW ALL I GET IS NO SIGNAL how DO I GET IT BACK TO TV MODE I have already unplugged it but nothing happens.

There is an input selector button on its remote control. Press it tepeteadely until the made change to TV. If you don't have a remote control, and if you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability? Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site Check this site too. Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops.

Lost codes for v.old universal remote

All universal remotes work about the same. Try this.
Here you go. This will work with most all universal remote controls. If you don't have the code do the following:
Automatic Programming
With automatic programming, the remote control tests all the codes available on the Code List and assigns the correct code for the selected device. Although this method can be more time-consuming, it eliminates the need to look up codes and enter them manually.

1. Turn off the device with which you want to use the remote control.

2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(TV, VCR, SAT, DVD, CAB or AUD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. It should take a couple of seconds for the light to remain solid. The remote control is in programming mode.

3. Press and release power button. The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.

4. Press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down repeatedly until the device turns on.

5. When the device turns on, press OK to store the code.

• To exit without storing the code, press BACK.
• T he unit will search for the next code or the previous code if you press
CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down after the device turns on. (go slow you need to press OK when the TV turns on) if you mess up turn TV off and start over.
6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.

VCS 442 Zenith

one way is to connect an antenna to INPUT of VHS, place a tape, press play, STOP and switch VCR\TV switch to TV. u should be able to change the channels from the VHS. If that don't work, u may have switch problems.
If this works, tell the
P.S. The 'blue screen' means that you don't have a signal to the antenna inpur\TV protion of VHS.

Shuts down after 8 seconds of play.

Does the tape hang out when you eject the cassette?
8 seconds is about the time that the VCR brain allows the mechanism to run when there is a problem before shuting down. Just guessing from the model number, but I'd say the unit needs a belt job.
