SOURCE: I have a Kenmore model 795 77563600 refrig side

This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor.
If the control does not see a signal coming back from the fan motor you will get this error code.
Please see the image below from the service manual that explains the ER IF error code.

http://media.fotki.com/1_p,wkbwtkdqbqkgrkkxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/ktfgsrbbdxktrrwffdr/1/1303472/5961857/image18067img-or.jpg

The ER IF code indicates a failure of the icing fan.

You may notice slower ice production but the other fans should be okay.

You can select the ultra ice option and see if the fan toggles on.

The fan or the control is bad.

SOURCE: Fridge problems - frigidaire

Sort of sounds like the adaptive defrost board is bad and you are not going into a defrost cycle. Do you have ice build up on the lower interior freezer section? Are the vent slots full of frost/ice? Ideally, pull the freezer shelfs out and take the little aluminum panel off the interior back to look at the coils. Are they basically a block of ice and frost? The problem happens when the unit doesn't go into defrost cycle and the coils freeze up. That blocks the air flow in the freezer so you get frozen food at the bottom but soft stuff at the top. And the frige just can't get enough cool/cold air from the freezer section to cool anymore. Power surges or blackouts, etc. can just destroy the defrost circuit board. Without good air flow the unit is not going to cool properly.

SOURCE: Flashing #4 on temperature display

flashing #4 is a communication error between the control board and the damper assy, usually it is the fault ogf the damper assy but if it is under mfg warranty, replace both, if you need to pay for the parts yourself get the damper first.

Error code troubleshooting

Good Afternoon Richard, thank you for your post!

If an error code 4 is flashing on your Frigidaire refrigerator (GLHS35EHSB), it generally means that your refrigerator is experiencing an issue with the damper. The damper is either not opening or closing properly which typically causes the fridge compartment to not cool. One of the best ways to determine if this is a false error code is to reset the power to your refrigerator by either unplugging it or flipping off the breaker for about ten minutes. However, if you have already done this, at this time it is best to reach out to a professional to check the wiring between the damper and Main Control Board. Depending on the results, either the damper or Main Control Board may possibly need replacing. Best regards! - Z

What does a blinking 4 on a digital fridge model frs6lf7fw9 mean

Hi Friend, this is Z. That's a great question!

Generally, error code 4 means that your refrigerator is experiencing an issue with the damper door. The damper is either not opening or closing properly. One of the best ways to determine if this is a false error code is to reset the power to your refrigerator by either unplugging it or flipping off the breaker for about 30 seconds. If the error code persists, it's a good idea to have a service tech properly diagnose the wiring between the damper and main control board.

We have a 4 year old frigidaire side by side refrigerator, model phs69ejss0, it has stopped cooling fridge and freezer and there is a 4 flashing in refrigerator temp display area, any idea how to fix?

The Flashing #4 occurs when power is applied to the fridge and the control board goes through it's cycles and didn't detect a damper connection.
So its your air damper that's bad.

Here is the part to order.

Fridgidaire refrigerator flashing error code 4

From what I remember a flashing 4 means "damper error". Send your model number found inside or on the outside of the fresh food section, The air damper is found between the freezer and fresh food section and regulates temperature in the fresh food section by opening wide for things that warm up your fresh food section example would be opening the door and letting warm air inside . The damper then closes to keep the right temperature. If you have questions please ask, Thanks Sea Breeze
