Question about Logitech Cordless EX 100 Mouse

1 Answer

My Logitech EX 100 keyboard and mouse combo doesn't work

I followed all of the instructions in the box. I installed the software. I connected the mouse and the keyboard to the receiver. The receiver responds with lights flashing when I press the connect button on either device. The button and clicks doesn't work on my computer though.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I know for sure that the batteries work and I'm not sure about the hardware settings. The computer recognizes the usb receiver but it keeps showing the "Found New Hardware" Wizard. I installed the software already but it does that anyways. My computer runs pretty well, it's not that even a year old yet, so it's fairly quick. I'm pretty sure I just bought some faulty devices. I'll try it with a different computer tomorrow to make sure though.

Well I'm running windows XP, but I don't think the mouse and keyboard are plug and play because they're wireless. I hear that most wireless keyboards and mouses usually require software installation and are rarely plug and play. Also, I did try the mouse and keyboard with the receiver plugged into my computer before I installed the software. When that didn't work, I figured it must have been because I hadn't installed the software like it says I was supposed to in the instructions.

I don't think I have too many of those excessive programs and settings either; I've only installed a few necessary programs on here (adobe reader, aim, firefox, etc.) that wouldn't slow my computer down or interfere with drivers too much. I'm thinking maybe buying a refurb off of wasn't such a good idea?

Well I've come to the conclusion that it is my eeepc or XP that's at fault because I connected the mouse and keyboard to my Powerbook G4 and it worked perfectly, no software required. I uninstalled the software and tried it again but no luck. I even downloaded and installed an old driver for this device but that didn't work either. I don't know why this keyboard and mouse won't work with this computer, but I think it's hopeless...

Make sure the batteries work by testing them in another device(sometimes they lose their charge if they have been in the box too long). If they are charged, make sure you have the devices connected directly to the computers onboard USB port so that you can be sure it is getting enough power to the reciever.

If this does not work, it might be a hardware setting on windows. You will want to make sure all of your drivers are installed properly in device manager, this is unlikly the problem but it has been known to happen. Make sure the mouse and keyboard are aligned properly with the reciever.

If your computer is running slow, it may just take a long time for windows to recognize the new device. If you do not hear windows responding by making the 'new device found' sound then it probably is not detecting the new device in which case it is probably something wrong with windows or the drivers. If it does make the sound and it says it is loading and you see the ballons pop up on the bottom right then it has sucessfully connected.

If all of this does not work, then I would say that they are toast. Try them on a different computer if you can. This should give you a definate idea of if it is a problem with your computer or a problem with the device itself.

Vista should have no problems running them. As much as people rip on Vista, it has one thing over XP- and that is plug and play ability for small devices like mouses and keyboards.

If you are using XP then it is iffy wether or not it would be plug and play. XP is very good with detecting devices, however, having the right driver for the job is a little different. As far as I know, all windows XP versions should have the basic Human Interface Device Drivers which allow any PnP mouse/keyboard to be used in the most basic ways, where you can type and click, but you cant use any special functions. I could be wrong though, I come accross a lot of computers that are horribly bogged down with an excessive amout of programs and useless settings, and in this case they devices take a very long time to become detected, sometimes not at all.

I doubt you are in the same situation but the point is that if you are running windows XP and your files arn't in good health then this may be the problem.

FYI, I have never needed to install the manufactuers software to get my portable logitech mouse to work on all the computers I work on. I just used the windows drivers. You might just try uninstalling the software and allowing windows to take over functionality of the device.

Have cordless keyboard EX-100. Keys will not respond. The calculator and mute keys works all other do not. Have fresh batteries and reset connection button many times. My cordless mouse is okay.

You either need to push fn button (upper left on keyboard) or you need to check that the logitech keyboard software (itouch and a few other names i can;t recal) is running or installed. On mine if the software has glitched out, a quick reload of it and it works fine. This software is what is telling your computer what the special keys mean. If this isn;t running it will only be able to understand the standard type of key signals.

Logitech ex 100 mouse doesn't work

Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it to Reset/Connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly.
If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud
