WHIRLPOOL LSQ8511KQ0 I have a washing machine and it does not spin.  The whole drum just bangs the inside of the machine during the spin cycle.  Please give me any sort of assistance and if this is a costly repair.

I did not rate it as bad as I just saw it. I don't know how someone rated it that way. I am terribly sorry, really, and I have changed it to helpful. I haven't actually tried it, but I will, and the picture is very helpful.

    Merry Christmas.

Helzie, sounds like your drive block stripped out. You would get this from the top. You would need to remove the tub ring, agitator, lock nut and pull the basket from the tub. I will attach some pictures so you can visually inspect it. The part is cheap, part number 389140, but you can expect to pay around 140.00 labor. Check out the pics, you will see that the spin tube has 2 ears that sit in the drive block slots. See if your is stripped out. WHIRLPOOL LSQ8511KQ0 - 99ddcb9.jpg

Since you rated this a bad rating, why don't you let me know what you found. The answer I gave you is one reason a basket would bang around. Im not there to see it for myself, but at least I gave you something to look for. Thanks for the crappy rating, and Merry Christmas....Catriver.

Jessica, thanks for changing the rating. I don't accept any money from this site, I donate anything I make to the American Cancer Society. I just like to help good people save money and fix their appliances. I don't know who rated it, but it's probably someone who doesn't know his a-- from a hole in the ground. Some want to be technician who cares not to come up any higher, but rather pull you down in the hole that he's in. Thanks again, Catriver.

Amana top loader washing maching permanently tilted drum & loud banging during spin cycle

I guess you washed some curtains and blankets in it that it spun unbalanced. There are 2 things. One is the one of the suspension springs broke off. Another is the center post is already bent. You may have to check inside. If you are handy, you can take off the cover and check. Suspension springs are dangerous when being replaced. You may have to wear a pair of goggles. With the centerpost, it is difficult to replace. I suggest you call a technician for this.

Whirlpool Duet Washer Model WFW9400SZ00 bangs only during spin cycle.

Yes you are exactly right, these bearings have failed & are causing the noise very common problem with whirlpool front loaders. very expensive to repair worth while looking into replacing instead of repairing as it will just happen again. The new LG machines are the best in my opinion.

Shaking washing machine

If the shaking is during the spin cycle and you are using the High setting change it to Medium. This may fix the problem and the clothes will probably come out even dryer since the drum is not banging around.

In spin cycle, there is a loud metal on metal sound. could it be a bearing going out? the machine still spins but much slower, and the banging sound occurs in one place every revolution during the spin...

Remove the drum belt, and spin drum by hand.
If it feels rough, or it is noisy, then drum bearigs have failed.

Whirlpool LHW0050PQ Front Loading Washer VERY NOISY during spin cycle

remove the top access panel 3 screws in top rear.
now look around and push on the drum from top
it has suspension shocks and springs like your car they should resist any movements.
look/wiggle the concrete balance blocks , no cracks or loose.
inside the tub are the arm solid /not loose.
run it with the top open what do you see/hear and where
look under the rubber flap in front did anything get under the tub
