The lower half of the tv goes black/also pastel colors
TV is 3 years old, wall mount. Suddenly picture lower 1/3 went black, then would clear up, goes between solid black and pastel up and down bars with white background. Top 1/3 has picture. Does the weather (humidity) (heat), have any thing to do with this problem. It comes and goes, all channels.

Re: the lower half of the tv goes black/also pastel...
Yes humidity has been known to make the panel seperate. I live in south tx and work for sony, alot of panels that show that prob is usually the panel seperating. wouldnt recomend to fix to costly around 85% the cost of when you bought it.

I had the same issue. I am going to replace my scan buffer boards. The upper half of mine works but the lower half is black so I would replace the lower Scan buffer board but in case of future issues I have ordered both upper and lower for $44.
The scan buffer boards are fairly simple to locate. Open up back of tv there are two biffer boards identical. The item or product code on them contain letters either SU or SD (Scan up and Scan down)Look up tv parts and item code you will find a place to order or just get the 1 800 number from tv manufacturer.
Yes your inverter is bad, I have the same problem my set is about 1 and 1/4 years old. Because Olevia makes a terrible product there inverters are attached directly on to the panel, which means they will only sell the inverter along with the panel i.e $700+ to replace + $100 dollars labor if u don't know how to fix it ur self. I am currently searching to find the manufacture that makes the inverters because olevia will not disclose that information. I believe it is darfon, if so the inverter should cost about $150-200 depending. If you dont believe you can fix it ur self ur best bet is try and sell the set for scrap take ur $100 or so dollar and buy a quality product! Oh and dont call there support they will tell 10 different things before u find out this long for seen truth!
as you say that color came back for 15 minutes then went off.
this is a clear indication that there is a loose contact or pcb crack somewhere in color section only.
if that happens to be ok then check
1 antena or cable socket loose
2 loose connector in color section
3 print open or crack near chroma signal processor.
4 loose near color control.
5 chroma ic night be defective.
if you are not tech person take the help of tech.person.
This is a simple and common problem. The solder joints on the vertical output IC have cracked loose. I actually did a housecall on the exact same set with the exact same symptoms this morning! A good tech will resolder the pins of the vertical output IC and all other major solder joints on the main board and the set will play fine.
