Freezing of camera - only way to turn off is to remove battery.
My camera stopped working several months ago. I was taking photos and it just froze on me. The only way to turn it off was to remove the battery (the off switch/button does not work). There is no problem with the battery. I managed to take a couple of pictures since but the same problem keeps occuring. I also noted that it was starting to make some weird mechanical noises when it was turning on etc. Note that the camera was never dropped.

Hi try to reset ur camera...To do such reset, turn on the camera and hold the menu button down for longer than 5 seconds. A message should hopefully come up on your LCD asking if you want to reset the camera. Select Yes... thank u!!! rate me!!

Most likely this is not due to size of photo, but rather the number of photos on the card. I've had frames in the past that claimed they could use up to 32GB cards, but they limit the indexing of the files to 1024 (photos 0-1023). It didn't matter if you had 6MB or 17KB photos, just the number of photos alone was the limitation. They don't typical state these limitations in the specifications, either.
New battery that is fully charged. My Nikon D3100 has had the problem of freezing every ten or so pics since it was a couple of months old. Still does it today after six months of use. I take a few hundred pics with it when shooting but only shoot once or maybe twice a month.
Have to take the battery out, put it back in etc. each time. Sometimes it allows me to power off and then back on but either way it's a pain in the rear and a serious "time waster".
This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
I found a fix that worked for mine.
It was doing the same thing, freezing at the "Flip" screen and would not turn off. I did the remove the batteries deal. It worked once but issue reoccured 2 months later and the battery fix didn't fix it.
What did fix it was...
With the camera off, hold down the Right Arrow button and the trash can button at the same time and turn the camera on.
A few seconds later, I was at the start recording screen!!
Removing the battery only solution during freezing time / the battery out current /inside the camera still have current enough to illuminate the sreen /but all function are disable due to lack of current , If the message flushing battery empty don't wait that the battery will empty causing of screen illumination w/out function the digital camera.
try a new memory card. also try to reformat the memory card. dont take images you care about until resolved. i would try to remove the battery for about 10 seconds, and then reinstall, then reformat the memory card. if you still have the same issues, replace the memory card. it that does not cure it, you have a warranty repair to manage. good luck mark
my phone froze and i attenpted to turn it off several times, after trying and not getting a response i took out the battery pack and placed it back in and turned the phone back on. after turning the phone back on it kept freezing a
Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.
try tapping side by side, it always works!
