Hi,

Just enable the DHCP capability of your DSL router and then connect the Linksys hub to your DSL router then your PCs to the Linksys hub.

You will have to log in to the Management interface of the router.
You can use Linksys Connect for that.

Trying to install a wireless router to a network hub..is there anything special I need to do?

Hi,

These days all the network devices comes are plug n play.
If you dont want extra configurations ( security , NAT etc) and wants to use the Wireless Router for a single user connection then you can use that.

Best Regards

How do you connect a Linksys NH1005 v2 hub and whats the difference between a hub and a router?

A router takes an Internet connection, routes it to several other computers and provides each of these computers with their own IP address.

A Hub, on the other hand, will split the Internet, but the various ports on the hub will all have a single IP address. Makes it hard to use a computer for much of anything, if it is the second computer, you'll have trouble getting access.

Cant find IP address

You need to make sure that DHCP is turned on for the router and the the Xbox is set to automaticallly get network settings. If not, then you will need to manually configure the adress and settings. If this is the case, please post back the address of the router and all other devices on your network and we can help you make a suitable choice and get it configured.

How do I connect a LInksys NH1005 hub to a wireless router? Do I have to connect directly to the dsl modem first? change the ip address and then connect the router?

If you have a port in the back of the wireless router open which you should just run a CAT 5 (network cable) from the back of it to the Linksys hub. That should do it. This way the wireless router won't have to be messed with and you shouldn't have to change a thing.

Slow internet.

Your hub can support more that fiber optic puts out. Problem might be a slow computer. Run a internet speed test see what it gets through hub and then straight to the computer bypassing the hub. If possible. If there is a big difference either way what ever is slower is most likley the issue.

NH1005 network hub

I assume that besides the 2 computers you also have a cable or dsl modem connected to the hub in order to provide the actual connection to the internet.

The problem may be the fact that this is a hub and not a router or gateway. The problem is that although it will allow you connect more than 1 computer to the internet, it does not do any good if you Internet Service Provider only supplies you with 1 IP address. You need something that handles Network Address Translation (NAT), like a router or gateway device.

I hub is just a network distribution device.
It doesn't control IP addressing, or aid in connecting to the internet., you need a router for that.

What is the problem you are having?

first make sure that you are getting lights on all of the devices at the hub, and also that all four are getting ip addresses. if the 4th device is not getting an ip address but does show connected to the hub, then the problem is more than likely your router is not serving enough ip's for all of your devices. also make sure that everyone of the devices are not assigning a static ip that could possibly knock out one of your devices, or if they are all static ips, that one of them is not set to the same ip as another.

Network Hub or Router - World of Warcraft - NH1005 Linksys

I recommend purchasing a small switch because what it sounds like is that the traffic being generated from and to the two computers and then out to the Internet is killing your hub. A switch would help reduce some of the traffic.
