No power up. green led on broad is on and unit will power up if power connector pin 14 and 13 are jumpered. Pin 14 stays above 2.0vdc. know it is the motherbroad but can anyone give me an idea what componet it might be. have 2 intel D845epi/d845gvre motherbroads with this same problem

If the connector is integrated in the motherboard, the entire motherboard needs to be replaced. You can check with some local tech shops to see if the connector unit can only be repaired

Trying to install an ASUS H81M-C Mainboard with Intel core i5-4460. No way to turn on. Mainboard's Power led is on. Nothing happens at all. All connections are OK. Anyone has an idea? Thanks.

When you say that all connections are ok, you understand that we have to verify as this is the most common problem that occurs when installing motherboards. Obviously you have the large connector from the power supply plugged in since you have the power led on the motherboard. This is good. There is also the ATX 12V CPU 4-pin power connector that must be connected just above and to the left of the CPU. But the most often messed up arrangement are the front panel connections to the motherboard at the lower right corner. This is a 9-pin connector block (actually 10, but top right corner pin not there and bottom right not used).

In the link attached, go to page 26 of the pdf, which is page 1-18 of the manual. At the top of the page is a drawing of the connector block. The green power led takes the first two pins in the top row from the left. The connector plug should have a green and a white wire. The green is the positive and goes on the left pin of the pair.
Right below that is the two pins for the HDD light. This plug should have red and white wires. The red wire is positive and goes to the left pin of the pair. Going back to the top, the power button is the remaining two pins. These wires can vary in color from case to case, but if you don't see a label, just follow them back to the power switch to figure out which pair they are. This connector can be installed either way, there is no fixed polarity. The remaining two pins are for the reset switch, which some cases have and some don't. This connection does not to be used.

If you have everything correct and the unit still won't power up, then you need to verify that the power switch is working. If you have a reset switch, it is easy to test, just switch the reset and power button connectors and press and release the reset button and see if the board powers up. If you don't have a reset switch, remove the connector from the power button pins and carefully short them together for a brief second, which simulates pressing the power button. If it still doesn't power up, then there is something wrong with the motherboard.

One last thing, if the front panel connectors are all installed into one plug (which some manufacturers like DELL does, and you are installing this motherboard into their case, be sure to verify that the wires on the connector goes to the appropriate front panel switches/indicators, as these connector blocks are not fully standardized.

The power switch connects to the PWR PT pins. The speaker hooks to the SPEAK pins (only the outer pins actually used). The HDD LED connector hooks to the HLED pins. There is usually one red and one white wire. The RED wire goes to the "+" pin. The power LED wires hook to the PLED Pins. There is usually a green and a white wire. The GREEN sire goes to the "+" pin. The GLED pins are for the SLEEP switch if you case has one. The RST pins are for the RESET switch wires (if your case has one). Hope that helps

NOTE When connecting individual wires from your chassis front panel to the front panel header, be sure to observe the connection polarity. Positive wires are usually solid color and negative wires are usually white or striped.
There is also an alternative pin header if you have a power wire that uses a 3 pin connector instead of a 2 pin connector. It is the 3 pins just past pin 9, and it should be missing the pin in the middle of the 3 pin block. The pin closest to pin 9 is the power led + and the furthest from pin 9 is the power led -.

Was working perfectly about two weeks ago--now the green timer light will not stop blinking and the unit will not turn on--I have unplugged the unit for reboot and tried the system reset to no...

Here are few items to check:

1. Check for 12 volts DC (AC-off detect) at pin 3 of PC9A21, if missing replace PC9A21 part # 268P058020 on the Power PCB.

2. LED does not blink at plug in. Check for 5-volts DC at connector RF pin 3 (system reset) if low or missing suspect the reset switch S7L20 part # 432P089010 on the Control PCB.

3.LED does not stop blinking after plug in. Check for 12 volts at connect or PF pin 10 and 28 volts at connector PF pin 11, if the supplies are correct suspect a problem in the DM Assembly (part # 955C230001)

4. LED does not stop blinking after plug in. Check C9B01, C9B02, C9B03, C9B13, C9B14, C9B17 and C9B18 (1000 UFD, 16V, 105C) on the DM Power PCB located within the DM Assembly. If they are bad, replace them with part # 181P734030 (680 uFD, 16V, 105C). See service tip VS-76

5. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. This model is equipped with a keyboard lock feature; this can be mistaken as a no power condition. To unlock the keyboard press and hold the "menu" button on the front panel for 10 seconds

6. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Check for 4.7 volts DC at connector RF pin 4 and 5 on the Signal PCB if low suspect problems with the switches/buttons on the Control PCB part # 935D587001

7. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Keyboard is not locked and key inputs at connector RF pin 4 and 5 check good suspect the E2P PCB part # 935C978001
More then likely it is NUMBER 4, replace all caps if they look/check good or not.

TRYING TO HOOK UP MU POWER BUTTON NEED TO KNOW

Hi there
The front panel connectors are mainly,
  • harddisk activity connector
  • power switch connector
  • reset switch connector
  • power LED connector
  • speakers connector
  • USB connector
Harddisk activity connector
This normally comes red in colour and is labeled as HDD-LED
Power switch connector
This comes green in colour and is labeled as POWER-SW
Reset switch connector
This usually comes grey in colour and is labeled as RST-SW
Power LED connector
This is usually green in colour and is labled as PWR-LED
Speakers connector
This speaker will give different beep sounds during boot to tell the user if there is any errors. It occupies 4 pins, however only 2 is important for the function. Be sure to connect the red coloured cable to the positive polarity and the black to the negative.

Front panel connections

Hi sjcrofts,
The most common problem for most people is knowing what wire color is positive & which wire color is negative. The colors blue, red, green, light blue, light red & light green are normally positive. The color white & black are negative. Your board uses only 2-pin connectors. The 3-pin power connector can be turned into a 2-pin connector to work with the M848ALU pins.
(Page 13, PANEL1). How to? Take the three pin connector, on the back side of the connector you'll see a small tab that holds the wire into the connector. Use a needle & pull tab up while pulling the wire out at the same time. The wire should slide out. Insert the wire back into the connector next to the other wire. You do not need to hook up the SUS led which stands for suspend.

Pin 1 is positive & the manual shows this by adding the _P = positive.
Pin 3 which is to the right of pin 1, is negative for the hard drive led. Pins 9 & 10 are not used.

Help w/ the flashing green light

Cause #1 1. Red status LED, self-diagnosis error 44, check for open F9A06 on the Power PCB part # 283P128050 on the Power PCB 2. Red lamp LED, self diagnosis error 34. Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if missing replace the Power PCB part # 930B921002 3. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. This model is equipped with a keyboard lock feature, this can be mistaken as a no power condition. To unlock the keyboard press and hold the "menu" button on the front panel for 10 seconds 4. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Check for 3.2 volts DC at connector LE pin 3 and 4 on the Control PCB, if low suspect problems with the switches/buttons on the Control PCB part # 935D776001 5. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Keyboard is not locked and key inputs at connector LE pin 3 and 4 check good. Suspect the E2P PCB part # 934C121001 6. (LED does not stop blinking after plug in) Disconnect the USB connector from the card reader to the front from the Chassis, if the LED stops blinking after 70 seconds replace the Card Reader part # 299P271010. 7. (LED does not stop blinking after plug in) Disconnecting the USB connector from the Card Reader did not help. Remove connector FC from the FMT PCB and plug the unit in, if the LED stops blinking after 70 seconds with FC removed suspect a problem on the FMT PCB (part # 930B924002), if the LED keeps blinking with connector FC removed suspect a problem on the DM PCB (part # 934C116002). 8. (LED does not stop blinking after plug in) On the DM PCB (part # 934C116002) check C81A2, C81A3, C81B3 and C81B4 (1000 UFD, 16V, 105C), if any are bad, replace all of them with part # 181P734030 (680 uFD, 16V, 105C). See Service Tip VS-78A 9. (LED does not stop blinking after plug in) On the FMT PCB (part # 930B924002) check C8F19, C8F21, C8F22, and C8F27 (16V 1000 UFD 105C), if any are bad, replace all of them with part # 181P734030 (680 uFD, 16V, 105C). Basic rules case wiring. The color black is considered ground -. Power wires + can be any other color including stripped wires. (This is standard but case Mfg change to their own specification).

Pin 1 is + power for LED Hard drive green LED, Pin 2 is -/ground for Hard drive LED.
(Pin 3 is + power for LED Hard drive yellow LED, Pin 4 is -/ground for Hard drive LED).(See more options on pg. 47).
Pin 5 is + power for case On/off button, Pin 6 is -/ground On/off button.
Pin 7 is + power for Reset Switch, Pin 8 is -/ground for Reset Switch.
Once positive & negative pins has been located each connector follows in suit.

The Intel RC440BX front case connector is in an odd location.
The user will find it hard to connect front case LED connectors while the board in installed into the case.
