Question about Computers & Internet
I've done quite a bit of research on this and the problem is with the LG monitor. For some reason the DVI and HDMI ports have a history of going bad and when this happens, the monitor goes into "power save" mode because it thinks that there is no signal coming into the monitor. Other than getting a new monitor (which I wouldn't suggest) the only other way to fix it that I know of is to use the VGA input on the monitor. In order to do this you will have to have an XBOX 360 VGA HD cable. You can get them from Amazon.com for $32.49 with free shipping. Here is the link:
For faster results (which I'm sure your son would love) you can also purchase this cable from Best Buy if you have one close to you for $39.99 plus tax. Here is the link:
Purchase this cable and your son will be on his way to gaming again in no time! Sorry for the problems you are having with your monitor but this will get everything taken care of for you. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for using FixYa!

this is a resolution compatibility issue
the xbox gives out a fine display that the LCD can no longer sustain, thus setting self to power save mode. to resolve this, set the resolution to a lower value like 1280 x 1024 or 1400 x 900 just to refresh the display, or you can use it to a regulat computer for the mean time.
if this did not work download the latest video drivers for the xbox and that will surely solve the issue.
