Question about Pioneer SD-582HD5 58" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

HV adjust Had a problem with my Pioneer projection TV (SD-582HD5) losing audio/video after it was running for awhile. It seems to be a heat related problem, as placing a fan in front of the circuitry helped somewhat. From time to time I would also get a loud high voltage snap. In any event, I replaced the flyback and did a shotgun replacement of the other ICs on the board that were mounted on heatsinks. Fired it up to be sure it still works. I am now concerned about the HV and XRAY adjustments. Can you give me any adjustment tips and specific values I should be looking for?

Can you be more specific? What voltage am I looking for? Where would I check for it? Where is the pot?

I have a model SD-582HD5 58" TV Year 2000. It all of a sudden pops off to standby for no reason. Then it wont turn back on for awhile. What can we do to fix this?

It has a loose connection on one of the boards. To test this the next time it turns off, Power it down and then back up, While its trying to come on hit the side or kick the bottom and see if it comes on. Sometimes you have to hit it hard. If it comes back on its a loose connection. A tech will have to check all the connections and if no loose connections are found he will have to resolder the joints on the boards.

Pioneer 58" SD-582HD5 1080i -Rear Proj TV

Like most problems with this model, check and re-solder the connections on the power supply board on the right rear of the tv, just behind where the main power cord goes in. Most problems are around the upper left corner where the white connectors E-12 and others. Check all of them from loose and cold solder solder connections on the board. Hope this helps.
