Cannot copy from Sony Camcorder DCR-HC30

Ok I would like to try this again. I am new to this blogging thing so please bear with me as I consider myself to be computer stupid. I have all the drivers, all the hookups and yes my computer does show that I have a CD-R installed in my drive "D". I do what the instructions say. I go to the menu to burn a VCD. Then when I hit "EXEC" on the camcorder LCD screen an error message come up that states: "Insert a recordable CD-R disc." As stated earlier there is a blank CD-R in my drive "D". In the Sony Picture Package VCD Maker if I click "Start", I also get a similar error message that states: "There is no disc in the destination drive. Please insert a blank disc in the destination drive". OK now it gets more confusing. In the Picture Package VCD Maker if i click options there is nothing in the area shown as "Target Drive" and then if I click on adjust and confirm USB stream I get the USB Streaming Tool. This is the only way I can get to the USB Streaming Tool. I go through all the steps, click done and it takes me back to the options page. I click OK and then I am back to the picture package page. I can't even figure out how to copy to the computer becasue I am not getting the proper options. The only other option I can see for myself is to hookup my old analog capture device and then make a DVD through another method. Don't I want to be able to make a VCD or DVD digitally? Can anyone please help me????
