Just an idea but my guess is that it is in the hydraulic system.
Probably a safety valve that prevents it from falling in case of a hydraulic line break.

SOURCE: 1545 jd mower

Hi Craig, sorry to hear your having problems. the first thing to try is running the machine with the fuel cap loose. The cap has a vent that allows air into the tank as the fuel is consumed.

Ensure that the cooling shrouds are clear of and grass / debri buildup causing it to over heat.

If those fail, it is likely that you will need a new ignition module. As the module heats up it expands. if there are any weak spots it will cause a broken internal connection when expanded. When it cools off, it contracts and the weak connection is restored.

Is the rail suppose to level upon completion of installation or at roughly a 30 angle?

You want if you can the have the motor end a little lower than the front.. This way when the opener starts down its shoving the top section up a little instead of shoving down on it..

JD STX38 mower stalls when deck is lowered

If the belt bounces then it has stretched or the belt tightener is not working. properly. Also check the shear pin in the drive pulley. If it has sheared the blades will try to turn but slip when any pressure is put on.

I have a 20 HP Sears riding mower with 42" deck. Something has caused the right side of the deck to sit lower. It literally sits on the ground when lower to #1 position.

There are deck leveling adjustment bars located on most lawn tractors, most are equipped with a large plastic wing nut. There will be one on each side, with the mower off, lower the deck to the lowest position, loosen the wing nuts on each side, then re-tightnen. There is also a possibility if this is not the way your deck is levelled, there will be a deck hang wire/rod, however those are usually found on zero turn style mowers.

How do i level the deck on a murray riding mower model number 46576x92 twin i/c?

Park the tractor on a firm, level surface. . .
At the lower end of the lift/lower travel slot, there should be a plastic cover which you pop up so that your blade lift handle goes all the way down (it should say something about blade level on there somewhere. . . . .
After you have the handle in this position, look at the front lift arms of the mower deck and find the 2 large wing nuts, one on each side. . . . .
Loosen these while the deck is down and then retighten them Your deck is now level

Handle to raise and lower blade is stuck in the down position

What I do is use some penetrating oil on the mechanism that raises and lowers the saw unit. Usually you will have to raise if a little and then lower and keep doing over until it moves freely. If the unit is rusted you might have to wire brush a little. I dont know what brand or model we are talking about but this works on the DeWalt and Bosch saws that I repair.
