I have placed an obstruction for the door to make contact with. However it does not open at all quickly on hitting the object. Is there any way of adjusting the time before it opens
Look on the side of motor you will see hex screw that has a ^ sign that means up and another one for down.you set the collision force with it. Clockwise then the force is greater before it stops. Anticlock means it takes a little force to stop it

SOURCE: door opens only 6 inches and stuck
I would try jumping a wire across the white & red terminal to see if your safety sensors are working Properly! If your door opens you have a loose connection or faulty sensors.

I have had the same problem. The nylon gear that drives the chain started to strip, and was slipping. It finally wore out completely, and now needs replacement.
SOURCE: Garage door does not function makes couple of buzzing sounds only
Remove the cover and check out the drive gear. It is white nylon and is probably stripped.

Thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to help. The door stops on hitting the obstruction ok but will not retract straight away.
