hi Zhan, thank you for your suggestion. But I am sorry to say that, I can't find any screws to open that. Is there anyway that you can tell me where the screws are?

No you cannot open it if the unit is under warranty call magellan and let them repair it but if the unit is no longer under a warranty magellan have a customer loyalty program were you can swap your old unit for a new one with a discounted price.

You may open the unit and solder the pins. I had one with the same problem after three months. Fixed first time, broken again and had to fix the 2nd time. It was not a good design

I have a Motorola gps that fell and landed on the usb charger plug and broke the pin off the board. the battery is a sanyot0052 with 4 wires . Can you tell how i can charge this battery via the 4 wires so...

Don't try and charge the battery directly, as it is a lithium battery it can explode if not charged correctly.
You can try connecting (soldering) wires to the circuit board where the socket was connected to feed in 5V from the power adaptor or USB lead.

Pin code unlock

You have Garmin Lock activated and there are only two ways you can unlock it.

1. Enter the PIN code (but you clearly don't have it).

2. Take the unit to the Security Location you chose when activating Garmin Lock: it will then unlock without the PIN code and you can then either reset the PIN or disable Garmin Lock. The Security Location should not be the owner's home address, but many owners ignore this recommendation. Many owners choose their workplace or a close friend or relatives address for this purpose.

If neither option works then your unit is useless unless you send it to Garmin with proof of purchase. Garmin charge for the service and if your maps are not up to date then it's really a waste of money as the investment would be better spent on a new unit with current mapping.

I hope that you manage to either fix your problem using my advice or at least can decide whether to abandon the unit and buy another.

I have a garmin 238 gps and 2 pins on the back broke off. How can i get them repaired. I live in the cayman islands

More than likely they broke off due to corrosion. Are these the power pins? You can send it to either garmin and pay a flat rate fee, or to Mid-Shore Electronics in Ocean City, MD. 410-228-7335. I hear they do pretty good work.

My Magellan maestro 3225 wont charge or start up

Same here - the problem, at least with mine, is that the power pin on the unit has become loose and not making contact with the machine - thus will not charge most likely from pluging and unplugging it in multiple times and breaking the connection inside the unit - FWIW, this GPS a real piece of **** and I have already replaced it with a Garmin- I'm trying to figure out how to take it apart to see if I can solder the power pin back in place but it is not as easy as removing the 4 back screws...

NAVMAN 570 PIN

maybe there is a flat or stuffed lithium battery or battery charging circuit in the pin 570.
fix:
leave unit to charge for 24 h
if the battery still dosnt charge because it is over discharged, then you may be able to push some charge in it after the battery is unplugged, after opening the case, and removing the circuit board

power pin probably came loose. If you can open up the unit and re-solder the power connector to the board. If you need more assistance re-post and I'll tell you in further detail. Also, make sure the end of your power cable is getting juice.. flow.. is hot? live? has power to it.

Broken Power adapter

external power adapter? if you broke open the gps receiver and used any glue make sure you didnt coat the silver looking tiny metal parts or you just insulated them from the power adapter.. scrape off the glue gently with a small flat screwdriver. double check your wires to it the center conductor is usually white or red but the outer is ground or copper braid or black wire also check and make sure you didnt solder splash short the connector. gently tug on both wires if they bust loose you need to resolder proper 60-40 rosin core. adapter problems is easy . get a meter and check for voltage out from it should be like 14 if rated 12v. also you can just plug it up and trace to point where the voltage is lost to battery. good luck
