Make sure there isnt a locking switch on it anywhere. If it isnt, then a reformat may be in order. If the pen drive contains valuable information then you will need to select all of the files, right click on one of them, go to properties, then uncheck the read-only button. If this does not work, then you might be able to use a data recovery program to 'scan' the pen drive, but this doesnt always work, espeically if the lockout is caused by a hardware problem. In that case, you are out of luck.

Right click on the drive (where your thumb drive is) then properties, uncheck the read only and apply or go to command prompt (e.g. your thumb drive is in E drive) so go to E:\ and type (attrib *.* -s -h -r) for all the files in that directory and for the folders type (attrib "folder name" -s -h -r). ((-s means system file, -h means hidden file, -r means read-only file)). hope this helps.

My kingston flasdisk is write protected , i can't copy any data and backup . size: 8 GB

what you need to do is connect your usb drive, then open a command prompt window (Programs->accesories) and in this window type:

diskpart.exe
and press enter

you will be presented with another window similar to the first. In this new window type:

list volume
and press enter

this will show you a list of all drives connected to your machine.

Next type:
select volume *

where * is the volume number of the required drive listed in the list volume section.
and press enter
This will select the drive for the change you are about to make.

type:
detail volume
and press enter

this will list all of the attributes to do with the selected drive, you should see in there that the disk is write protected.

next type:
ATTRIBUTES DISK CLEAR READONLY
and press enter. Once the window has finished what it's doing you can close all of the command prompt windows and your disk should be ready to use again.

Hope this wasn't too long winded and has been of some use to you.

MY 8 GIG KINGSTON HAS NO POWER AND OF COURSE UNDETECTABLE BY ANY PC OR LAPTOP

If that won't detected by any PC or laptop it's possible that your 8 GIG Kingston is not functioning. I advise you to bring this thumb drive to the manufacturer or to the store where you bought it if still under warranty. All thumb drive are using USB connector and it's a plug and play meaning you don't need to install any driver for this so when you said that it won't detected by any PC or laptop I can tell that Kingston is defective.

Flasyh drive problem

It seems that it's about to "die".
So, my recommendation is that you buy another flash-drive,
and copy all the files from "old" to "new",
and then take a hammer to destroy the old drive (and the data on it).
