Blue shift on Mistubishi WS55411

Blue is shifted up and curves out toward the corners. Convergence correction works for the red, but only horizontally for the blue. Is this fixable? Is it an expensive fix? Can I fix it myself?

It is fixable, It is the convergence circuit causing the problem. Unless you are familiar with electronics and with Projection TVs I would not attempt to fix it. Plus the way the convergence board is mounted with hidden screws makes it even more difficult. I would estimate cost would be around 300.00 to 350.00. The set is worth putting the money into it. I recommend a professional to do it.
Hope this helps,

bmarino18,

Initially I would have told you to replace the convergence ICs but after reading your post carefully I think you could have a problem with the convergence box. The lines can only be bent/curved for two reasons. One - the yokes are bad causing an undue strain on the power supply and not being able to correct the problem. Two - the convergence box/board is bad and is not holding the settings causing the curve you see. I cannot tell you which problem you have. You wil have to determine this. I do have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4273935-replace_digital_convergence_box which may be helpful.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

When we try to adjust red cross, red adjustment will go side to side but not up and down. Red horizontal line is curved instead of a straight horizontal line. Blue can be adjusted up and down and don't...

Thats the classic sign of failed convergence ICs and resistors. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com the kit contains the parts and the Cd with instructions.

Convergence issue... I tried to manually fix it through the menu option without any luck. The convergence does curve at the top and bottom of the screen.

It seems the solder is broken in Vertical Convergence Amplifiers or it is damage internally. This model has 2 Conv. Amps: 1 for Horizontal (Red, Green and Blue) and 1 for Vertical Convergence output (Red, Green and Blue), if the convergence does curve at the top and bottom, it is because Vertical Converegence output is no good. The Conv. Amp. costs around 20 dlls. Thats why you can not fix it with the Menu option. Good luck!

Red and Blue seperate and picture curved toward the middle

You have a hardware problem, you cannot fix it using the menu. in fact you could make it worse.

Try googling DIY convergence repair if you can solder.

If not then call in a pro, about $300

Horizontal Curvature with convergence problem

DA, convergence circuit has failed, the IC`s and possibly a couple of support resistors need to be replaced, your right about it being a good set, 6 years is about average for convergence IC`s, call your local shops for a few estimates and get it fixed, it will run for a lot longer than 6 years, hope this is the advice your looking for, e-mail me if you have more questions, BMW Rider
