You are using an air card AND a network card? If this is the case, it sounds like your cards(or more specific the software) are battling for who gets internet access.

Or do you mean your air card is a wireless card? If you just have a single wireless device attached then check with your device manager and make sure everything is detected(right click on my computer, go to properties, go to devices/hardware, go to device manager). If anything is missing, or has the yellow triangle exclaimation point, then there is something wrong with your drivers.

If everything is working, then it might just be a simple wrong network setting. By default it might be trying to connect to the wrong wireless network. click on your networking device, click on connect to a network and then make sure you are attempting to connect to the right network. If you can't see your network, then there might be a problem with your router or router's settings.

4.)Keep the router and your connecting device away from other electronics. You should especially keep away from phones, fax machines and microwaves. etc.,
5.)Adjust the Wifi antenna if it has one.
6.)Change the router's channel, especially if other wireless routers are nearby.Following these steps would give you stable internet connection and also increased speed in connection. You can check your internet speed from ScanmySpeed.com before and after following these steps.

Can't connect to internet,Computer says i am but can't browse still

Wireless Zero Configuration was first introduced with Windows XP. In Windows Vista it was renamed to "WLAN AutoConfig".
Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) or WLAN AutoConfig is a service included with modern versions of Microsoft Windows that dynamically selects a wireless network to connect to base on a user's preferences and various settings. This can be used instead (or in the absence) of a wireless network utility from the manufacturer of a computer's wireless networking device.
To join a wireless network:
  1. Open the Start menu and click Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel Home window, click View network status and tasks.
If you are using Classic View, double- click Network and Sharing Center
Click Connect to a network.
Select your network from the list and click Connect.
If security is enabled on the network, you will be asked to type your network security key or passphrase for your AP/router. After typing security key, click Connect.
and keep follows the prompt.

Wireless card connecting to network but not able to connect to internet

Hi,
It is possible that your Network key/Security password is incorrect one reason why you can connect to he Network but not get any internet, or the router setting is set only to provide wireless internet on a number of devices all at once.
Depends on the router you have check the setting and see if it is set to limited number of devices that can connect to the internet or try disabling the Network/Security Key and try connecting to the network and see if you can get internet, if you do then the Network key is the issue.

My wifi connects to my wireless system but I cannot get on the internet through internet explorer. I keep getting "cannot find server"

This is quite a long reply and may appear very technical - however, have a read through and see what you can do Answer. The following assums that your wireless connection is working and other PCs are able to connect:
There could be quite a lot of reasons you are not getting a connection to the wireless - some common issues
  1. 1) the wireless is switched off
  2. 2) Wireless Secruity
  3. 3) Firewall may be blocking
  4. 4) Remove profile
  5. 5) Check Device working in Device manager
  6. 6) Something else on the PC blocking
so quite a few things to check - so lets start in order
  1. 1) Wireless Switch:- Most laptops have a wireless switch - some use a physical switch, other use a combination of the FN key + one of the F keys to toggle on/off - make sure this is on
  2. 2) Wireless Security:- Loginto the router, this may seem difficult, but its really straight forward, - however you will need to know how to login into your make of Router - A manual will be available from the routers manufacturers website to explain how to login. Once you have logged into the router main page, goto the wireless section and remove any wireless security, this maybe a simply as a box and click disable. --- Now see if the machine will connect to the wireless. Also remove wireless profiles http://mgmcc.forumotion.net/networking-tutorials-f17/removing-an-existing-wireless-profile-t109.htm
  3. 3) Firewall:- The firewall my be blocking access - try to disable the firewall. Often programs like Norton, Mcafee etc, when the subscription runs out can cause issues and need to be uninstalled, to uninstal you may need to use the removal tool available on thier websites. One of the ways to test this, is to do a PING test. Press the "Windows key" {bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the "R key", now in the search box that appears - type "CMD", a black box will now appear on your screen, in that box type the following "ping google.com" if you get 4 replies then you can access the internet and your firewall may well be blocking the access try disabling the firewall.
  4. 4) Remove wireless profiles http://mgmcc.forumotion.net/networking-tutorials-f17/removing-an-existing-wireless-profile-t109.htm
  5. 5)Have a look at device manager Press the Windows key (bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the R key, now in the search box that appears - type devmgmt.msc and see if you have any ? X or ! look under network adapters - click on the + and see if you have the adapter listed It will have a name something with wireless or 802.11 B/G/N included - check if it has any X or ! or ?
  6. 6) safemode:- Try to boot the PC into "safe mode with networking". To do this switch the PC on and now as it starts keep tapping the F8 key untill a menu appears, from that menu choose "safe mode with networking". If you can now connect to the internet, then there is something blocking your access on the PC when it starts normally - post back a comment and if that's the case, We can try doing a "clean boot" and try to identify the startup or process that is causing the issue
A very useful tool to use for wireless issues is xirrus, http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php If you can copy the program onto the PC thats not working and install and run, this test if your adapter is working and also will display all the networks broadcasting in your area. Which will prove the hardware works.
  • If this solutions solves you problem, please do not forget to rate my solution.
  • If not, then please comment back so I can help some more

Losing internet connection when enabling ICS on the wireless network connection

Do not enable ICS on any of the computers that are connected to a router regardless if it's wired or wireless, you only need to enable ICS is if you don't have a router/server on your network(the purpose of a router is to share a single internet connection from your ISP). To connect your computer wirelessly to the router(on a Windows XP computer given that you do not have a 3rd party Wi-fi application installed) is to right click on wireless network connection on the System Tray(lower right hand side of the computer's Desktop near where the clock is) or you can do it the hard way by going to Control Panel then Network Connections and choose view available wireless network and under the list of available network that your computer can detect, select the network name(also called SSID) of your wireless router and try to connect(of course if you enabled Wi-fi security you also need to key-in the security key(WEP/WPA) you configured on your router and that's it both wired and wireless computer/devices connected to the router should work at the same time.
