First thought is a problem with the motherboard or video card. Do you have a spare video card you can throw in there? Is your computer beeping(POSTing) when you turn it on? This could also be a malfunctioning piece of hardware causing the computer to stall. Give us more info about what is happening and maybe we can give you a specific answer.

We need to conduct a few tests. First unplug the computer from the back and set the rocker switch to the off position. Wait a few minutes. Move the keyboard so you can see it while you are doing the next couple of steps.

Reinsert the power cable into the back of the computer, look at the keyboard while flipping the switch on for the power supply. If the supply is good you should see the keyboard flash all three lights near the numerical keys, then press the computer on button very briefly, do not hold it because that may send the computer into "sleep" mode. If not you may have a failed power supply and I would not reorder one from Gateway. For the same if not better price I would go aftermarket for it would be more powerful and cheaper.

Gateway FPD1760TFT LCD monitor

Problem
1. turn on computer
2. monitor receives signal, it looks like its working
3. it goes through some steps and then the monitor says "no signal" and kind of stays in limbo with fans running, etc.

Solution
One possibility is that computer is looking for drivers for you video card. It could be hung up looking in the wrong places. Remove all peripheral hard drives and memory sticks. Try again.

Input Signal Out of Range

I have been having the same problem with my hpvs17 monitor when i start to use my web browser on linux distros. Now, for the next few days i am going to try my system on a regular crt monitor. if the monitor does not crash, than i will have to say that the hpvs17 monitor has a defect. It seems that when i go online, while i am in the middle of searching something, the monitor just shuts off and i get "input signal out of range".
