Re: the camera's lens make weird buzzing noise
Bring it back, but understand that most cameras today can not withstand impact damage. We have traded off light small cameras for cameras in the past with metal body construction and high Japanese build standards. Today's cameras have become disposable inexpensive products that unless treated with care will fail.

hi,you have problem in lens gear that why you heard a weird noise or what you said buzzes.sometimes the cuase of excessive force or impact from the lens it will damage the gear or misallign and not only felldown or drop will damage the camera. Its also affect the sand or dust goes inside of your lens thats whay the gear not work properly.
if you have knowledge repairing electronic its better you need to check the lens gear, cable and len barrel if all of this are ok. if not bring to service center for estimation first before you proceed to repair.
Did it drop? sounds like the motor is trying to move the lens as you need, but the lens has come out of its tracking. If there is no outside damage and you still have warranty left, you should get it replaced, otherwise it means opening it to place the lens back on its tracking, but this can be tricky.
Sand, water, salt water, dirt and dust can damage the lens to the point of no return, so to speak. It may not have been dropped if you had used the wrist strap, how ever it is now in damaged condition. The lens needs to be taken apart to completely clean out the sand. This is a very tedious and is a job for a professional with experience. The parts are extremely small and have close tolerances, thus any dirt or sand can cause grinding or damage to the internal parts of the lens mechanism. If you ever get a chance to see the gears and the gear teeth, you would understand why just a few grains of sand can jam these small parts. One grain of sand can stop a lens gear from working and possibly cause a broken gear. The parts are so small that in order to see the grains of sand which cause the problem, it may be necessary to use a magnifier lens.
To even make things worse, there is grease usually on the gears. The grease will hold any sand and cause it to stick in place. Cleaning these gears is not very easy. I have done it, and returned the camera to working condition, but not an easy job.
We just bought this camera today for our 12 year old son. We got it home and heard the same strange sound. I showed the camera to my husband who is a professional photographer, and he said the sound you are hearing is coming from the motor. If you look at your screen when this noise is happening you will see that it only makes the sound when the camera is trying to do the auto focusing. Once the camera focuses on the image, the sound stops. He said the sound is normal, and this is the way that this camera was designed. Once I looked at the screen I could see that he was right, when the camera focused on a face, or object, the sound stopped.
the problem is with lens.this sometimes happens if cam becomes victim with water. there is some buzzing noise when the shutter of lens gets opened or closed. please clean the lens with the solution once.then you can make out of blurs.
It sonds like the lens went with you to the beach on March break. Because it sounds as though there might be sand in the lens. Either that or the camera received a knock or drop.
The lens on the camera needs to be repaired and the camera reprogrammed.
