Question about Canon EF-S 17-85MM F/4-5.6 IS USM Lens
my 17-85mm canon lens
don´t autofocus well, but
the motor works
and sometimes show an error in the display
and says that the communication with the lens is not good
I send to repair and tell me that its the flat cable
and have to replace it but it difficult to find.
Please tell me if that have sense or no
Clean both the lens's contact and body's, if corrosion use nice emery paper.

Since the problem is limited to this lens, I highly doubt that you would have to replace the cameras AF sensors.
Since you only have the problem with this lens, I am afraid that you will have to get the lens repaired. Is the lens also 3 years old? Did you get it with MACK extended warranty?
Sometimes, Canon do these kinds of repairs for free, if they discover that there was some manufacturing error that caused it to fail. So be sure that you get it to a certified canon workshop.
I hope this helps,

Testimonial: "Hi Seyapathum! I tried cleaning it. and also the body. But same thing happened. the meter is still working. coincidentally, the body's curtain"
SOURCE: Auto focus not working?
1st u reset the factory setting and then u see the lense is correctly fitted or not and the autofocus option is working or the manual focusing is there or not

contact problem or lens diaphram blades problem. First try to clean the contact with the pencil eraser. If the problem isn't solved. send it to canon it should cost you about 100.00 to repar.
