Is it a BIOS password or a HDD password? If it's sewt in BIOS, you could try to reset the BIOS to factory default (which should remove any BIOS passwords) If however it is a HDD password, it is a bit different.. you may need to restore your sytem (low level, high level formats, then reload your OS sorry but you likely lose all your data..What OS do you use? there are programs that can possibly give you a boot cd depending on whether your system is fat32 or NT.. NT is more complicated because fat32 will not read NT BUT NT will read fat32.. IF you have the ability to restore your OS then first try to do a complete restore with backup.. that way you may be able to save most of your datafiles.. if you have never accessesd the pc then just try a destructive system restore (will low-level, then high-level format the HDD and reinstall your software without any SW passwords..
First thing I would try is to get into the BIOS and unset any passwords there.. If you need more help you can try to contact me [email protected] with more information

If your hard drive has failed a) you need a new one, b) you will have to reinstall the Windows system but c) you will have lost anything you stored on the computer. This is why we encourage people to have backup systems.

Did you replace the old hard drive with a new one?
Check the connections on the drive itself. When you plugged the new one in, there should have been two cables you plugged into it. 1 small one that goes to the motherboard (called the SATA cable), and one wider one which comes right out of the power supply. If either of these is not plugged into the hard drive, you would get a message that says "could not find drive".
Check your connections and try again. If they're ok, then write back with as much detail as you can provide.
Good luck!
