Question about HP PSC 1610 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I installed LEOPARD OSX 10.5 and my scanning capability has stopped working. I can print and copy, just won't scan. HP says it's working on it. Anyone here have a solution?
First, Install the HP Software from here: http://preview.tinyurl.com/4wfxnq
Then, Search for 'scan' in spotlight or quicksilver.
Open up 'HP Scan Pro'
Choose your settings, and scan away.
Do NOT use the 'scan' button on the printer, it does not work. Ignore it and use the software.

I called HP and they made me buy a CD with new software. IT'S THE SAME CD I ALREADY OWNED! I specifically asked if it was a leopard update and if it would get my scanner working again. idiots.

I can use the Scan To button on the 1610 control panel only if it's hooked to a computer running Tiger, won't do it that way on Leopard. I can scan fine using the HP Scan Pro app in Applications but can't do it from the printer panel. my software is up to date too.

I threw mine away and bought a dedicated scanner. Enough of this "all in one" .

I got the scanner feature to work with Leopard by using the HP Device Manager instead of selecting "scan to" directly from the printer.

You can use the HP Device Manager (it usually appears in your dock) to scan in a pinch. That's what I'm doing for now until new drivers appear.

From HP's site. Updated drivers not ready until December.
HP printer drivers and software pack- ages being released after the installa- tion of Mac OS X 10.5, will be instant- ly integrated and updated on the cus- tomer’s Mac via Leopard's built-in Software Update mechanism. HP plans to release the first major update until the end of December 2007, which will be focused on All-in-One and Scanner drivers to provide scanning and faxing functionality. Until then scanning func- tionality is limited to certain HP pro- ducts, please refer to the next pages for details

Hello all. I have contacted HP and all they did was NOTHING. Allow me the undignified pleasure (is there pleasure in this?!?!?!?!) in restating they did N-O-T-H-I-N-G,nada,zip-A-dee-doo-dah-nebbish,zilch-zero,zip & DIDDLEE-SQUAT. They did send me a link but that led back to their original chat with a tech, some moron/cretin who is sitting in a corner office dressed like the HP people of the 60's with white shirts, black slacks that are above their shoes to show off their white socks and Pay Less special of the week shoes. This is frustrating and it doesn't sound like HP will lift more than the finger to write back to you on their live chat. So we can either besiege them with other chats until they give in, wait for the new update driver or buy the Epson ( I am not paid nor do I work for Epson, I like their product ) printer. Anything but HP. Thank you

Probably cause someone, either apple or hp, hasnt updated the drivers yet.
