2003 bmw 530 engine fans are not going off.

I have a 2003 bmw 530. I turned it off about 30 minutes ago but it seems like the fans that cool the engine are still on. It was pretty hot outside today (about 95) but no hotter than it usually gets. Should I do something?

Replace the temp sensor. It's stuck on on. it will kill your battery leaving the car unable to start. The fan uses an enormous amount of amps.

Only worry about it if they don't go off at all? sounds normal to me but if there not going off than you have a bad relay to the fans

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

Dodge Caravan 2003 turns off

Hi Spepovska, Pull out the engine dip stick and observe the oil. If it has become a distinctive light grey that could indicate a blown cylinder head gasket. It seems the engine may have over heated. I think a good idea is to take the vehicle to a different shop and have them carry out another diagnostic scan and see what that one comes up with. Ask them to, carry out an integrity pressure test on the cooling system as I believe the cooling fan issue still needs attention and does not cool the engine. Let us hope the engine has not been damaged. Ask the new workshop to test the thermostat fitted to your engine and to replace if required. I believe that could be where the problem began.Regards John

2003 bmw 325i makes buzzin noise after driving for half an hour on a warm weather

If this is after you stopped the engine , is is possible the Cooling Fan is still powered for a short time to cool the system even after you left the car.
In some rare occasions ( VW vr6 p.e.) there is also an electrical water-pump to keep the cooling going after stopping the engine.

My 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart fan stays on for about 10 seconds after I turn my car off. I checked the fluids and I topped off my coolant.

hello, these cars will do that, comp goes through, a cycle, fan usually last thing to turn off, it may not do it all the time, depend on how hot it gets, plus cools engine after its turned off

Hello, what does it mean when the fan is still running after the car has been turned off. it's still running after 1 hour

Most electric fan will run after car is shut off when it is hot, to cool the coolant. They shouldn't run for more that 15 min tops. It sound like a timer is malfunctioning.
hope that helps

Have you checked all fuses for the cooling fans? Seems to be that the car is warming up to temp and then some, and protecting itself from overheating by shutting down the engine.

Jetta 2003 2l fault code p2182

P2181 Cooling system performance

Check Thermostat operation & Temp sensor for ECU. CHECK ENGINE CCOLANT TEMP SENSOR IN WATERHOSE, NORMALY A 4 PIN PLUG. ON SENSOR SELF PIN 1&3 OR C&D AT 0 degrees
5000-6500 ohms,60 degrees 530-675 ohms,90 degrees
200-275 degrees

Could also be the cooling fans - I've heard of fixing it by replacing the fan motor and clearing the code as well. The easy fix seems to be the coolant sensor though - I've seen several online threads where owners cleared this code by changing that sensor.
