Question about Linksys WRT54GX2 Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 (LS-WRT54G2)

1 Answer

Linksys WRT54G2 V1signal drops out once every 24 hrs

About once every 24 hrs the signal drops and does not show up on the view wireless networks again until I go into the web based utility and change anything back and forth maybe back again so that I can click on save settings then it shows up and works normal again for about 24hrs. Then it will work great again for about 24hrs.
The access restrictions are disabled and I have updated to the latest firmware and have tried it with or without the security WPA2 personal on or off which is sometimes one of the things I have changed back and forth just to make the signal visable again. The status lights on the router itself do not change when any of this occurs. It always appears normal and has a very strong to excellent signal strength. I have reset it and started over several times and it still does the same thing.
I can get it to work by doing this every day and it only takes 5 mins but it is a an annoyance.

Download a free tool called Netstumbler (Netstumbler.com) and perform a wireless sniff for surrounding access points possibly generating a stronger signal and knocking yours out. If you find one any that have an SNR that is close or stronger (closer to 0) than yours then change your access point to a channel that is different from them but limit your choices to 1, 6 or 11.

Another possbility is a 2.4Ghz cordless phone killing your signal.

its possible that the wireless card does not have the correct wireless settings.

Open the linksys wireless monitor on your wife's laptop.
Go to the profiles tab, highlight the default SSID then click on edit at the bottom. It will search for the wireless network, from the list of networks that it will show you, click the name of your wireless network, in if the network is secured you will be ask to put in your network key. Then click connect. Then it will say that you profile was successfully configured. then click connect to network. It will take you back back to the screen where you saw no association to the access point, check if you will now get a new message. On that same screen click the more info button at the upper left hand side. Check the IP address it should be 192.168.1.x. If you have that IP then you can test if you will be albe to get online.
