Why does my LG tv seems like it need to warm up before it will accept HDMI signal?

When I turn on my LG HD TV, it says "No Signal" from EITHER of my HDMI inputs. I wait a couple minutes, then turn the TV off, and on again, and it has signal, but NO sound. I wait a couple more minutes, and turn the TV off, and on again, and it works fine...what's wrong?

Sounds like a capacitor fault. They can be intermittent when cold, but will work okay when warm. Eventually though they will fail.

This is your advance notice to get the set either repaired by the manufacturer or a local TV shop.

There is probably a bad capacitor on the power board, I had the same thing happen to my 42LB1DR after 2 years. T.V. would turn on and white power light would blink, no pictue and no sound. If your'e a diy'er, it is not that hard of a fix. Take all the covers off of the back of the tv(UNPLUGGED!!!), then look at all the capacitors on the power board. lcd_repair_4_bad_capacitors_lg.jpg
These are the capacitors, look to see if any of them appear to have a bump on the top of them. They are supposed to be flat, you can also tell if one of them has gone bad if there is an oily substance on the metal cover that was removed. If one of them is in question, carefully remove the board, and take it to an electronics store to have them sotter ?sp on a new capacitor. It ended up costing me around $40.00 to have this done. Good luck and if you are not comfortable trying this, than take it to a repair shop, but I was quoted around $450 to take the T.V. in. No Thanks

SOURCE: "No signal" sign on TV screen using HDMI selector

it sounds like a refresh issue, double check you selector and make sure it fits the refresh of the tv. i had this once with a sharp where the tv was 120hz and the selector was 60 and it created a no signal and when it did come in it was jumpy. if you have a 120 tv then selector should be the same.

SOURCE: LG LCD HDTV 'NO SIGNAL'

To fix the problem, try turning off the TV and unplugging it from the outlet. Once unplugged, push the power button and hold it down for 1 minute. Then turn the TV back on and rescan for channels.

If the problem persists, contact LG customer service immediately as there is a problem with the memory card. The device is unable to retain scanned channels for immediate feedback.

All LG LCD automatically comes with a 1 year manufacturing warranty. You would have to provide proof of purchase to show when it was purchased. Hope this helps. The Guru

How can I get the best HD (cable) signal to my old HD TV with no HDMI port. The TV only has Component Video, S-Video, RGB input, and of course Coax input. The TV is an LG DLP TV.

If it is an hd compatible tv the is has to have either an hdmi port or a dvi port. Our old projection tv was hd but before the current hdmi format so we had to use an hdmi to dvi conversion cable. If it doesn't have either of these then it probably isn't hd compatible.

I do have a lg BH6430P home theatre, when I connect the HDMI to the TV it gives me no signal

check that the hdmi lead is good, if it is check that its outputting a signal that is not too high for the tv. i.e. if the lg is outputting 1080p can your tv show 1080p just because the tv is HD ready, doesnt automatically mean it can show 1080p try setting the lg to 720p or lower to see if anything shows on the tv

Did you change the HDMI cable? If so, you should check to ensure you have the cable installed so it is running the right direction. It may seem hard to believe but some HDMI cables only allow the signal to run in one direction.

No hd signal on my lg32lc5dc tv

Answer a few questions to try to resolve this issue:

What is signal source for HD you are using? (cable box, sat box, receiver in line, antenna).

Where on the set are you connected? (HDMI, HD component input on rear or?)

Does if not a box used the set have a built in HD tuner?
