Cd drive for ibm laptop t30

Make sure you have the most current driver installed for that model. Go to IBM website and download, install. Once installed, try reading the disk again. That usually solves the problem.

And - all CD/DVD drives don't recognize all CD/DVD's - lots of different formats. Check the documentation for that drive to see which formats it can read.

you can use the recovery disk that came with the system. all you need to do is to boot the computer from the CD.

for registry error i don't think its required for replace the hard disk ... boot the laptop through win98 boot able cd and delete the all partition using fdisk command and try to install the os .............

I just experienced the same issue and found some excellent advice when facing this symptom. Search FixYa for "Ibm t30 post beep error 1 3 3 1." It could be one of your memory boards or the memory socket itself. I pulled out the hard disk, CD ROM, and two memory boards (there is good info on the Lenovo site on how to safely do all this) . I then added back one memory board, applied power, and voila the T30 came to life. I then added the hard disk, CD ROM, and rebooted after adding each device. After adding back the second memory board, I experienced the original problem. So this memory board or the memory socket appears to be the culprit.

Press all of the function buttons one at a time until you get a response. Not all laptops use the same buttons for Bios and choosing the boot device.
Also, it won't boot from the CD-ROM because the bios boots from the Hard drive first by default. You can change this in the BIOS.

Thinkpad T30 are usually supplied with the following optical drives, CD ROM, CD R/W, and Combo DVD ROM with CD R/W.
You most likely have the Combo drive, therefore you can play DVD and CD disks plus burning music and data onto CD-R and CD+R discs.
You need CD burning software such as Roxio Easy CD Creator or Nero. Both these programs are excellent and easy to use.

You should be able to buy a DVDR Ultrabay™ 2000 Plus drive that will replace the floppy drive.
