Question about Westinghouse LCM-19v1 Monitor
My computer screen is black unless I turn it off then back on and it comes on for a second then goes back to being black
You have either a bad inverter circuit board or burned out backlight fluorescent bulb.

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.
The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer or service center within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

You need to open it up and inspect the capacitors (look for bulging top/seal), burnt inverter transformers, resistors, etc. in the power supply/Inverter board first, post back what you find so we can guide you further. See example of failed Viewsonic monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

SOURCE: The monitor goes black while on
Open it up and look at the capacitors. The round "tin can" looking components. If the tops appear bulged, then replacing them may help. Check out the YouTube video... and web site...
