Copy problem with Sony DCR-HC30 camcorder

When I try to burn a VCD I keep getting a message on the camcorder that says "Insert a recordable CD-R disc". On the computer the Picture Package VCD Maker shows "There is no disc in the destination drive" It also shows "Please insert a blank disc into the destination drive". There is definitely a disc in the drive. How do I fix this problem? Thank you!
