Component R601 (a relay) is chattering/buzzing. Sometimes stops after set has warmed. What is the function of this relay? Can I wire around it? The set is Sanyo DS19390.

Ronaldo, Thanks for the response. I was a TV repairman 40+ years ago. Forgot about degaussing circuit. Will try your suggestions. How come this TV doesn't have any vacuum tubes. Ha.

Wonderful resource y'all provide. I'll look up go/no go on Youtube. Regards, Denis Ross

    Good Morning Ronaldo,

You're right, I am an old timer. When you have a minute go to google, or any search engine. Type in 'B-47 bomber'. You will see the airplane I supported during the cold war with soviets. Was an airborne navigational aids technician in US Air Force. Worked on Tacan, Omniplexer, Doppler Radar,IFF, etc. Yes, we really did have Doppler in the early 60's. Wasn't on flight crew, thank God as the B-47 was a dangerous airplane. We had them in Europe, in Asia, and Africa, loaded with nukes. The soviets knew we had overwhelming bomber power even though they were ahead of us in missile technology for a time. We also had the B-52's in the air 24/7 for a lot of years. I'll let you know if I fix the TV. Sure wish I had a schematic. Denis

The relay is used for degaussing the screen(demagnetizing). Don't bypass that or you will have some problem. That relay is suppose to come on only for a few seconds then turn off. Relay coils run on smooth DC. If the supply to the coil has a fluctuating voltage it will do that. The cause of this is usually a bad filter capacitor, or a leaking semiconductor, either a diode or a transistor. Trace the circuit to see what drives the coil. Check any filtering capacitor connectec in parallel, and also perform a "go/no go' test on any semiconductor that drive that coil. You tube has video instruction on "go/ no go" test. It is better explained with a video.

Hahahah they did away with vacuum tubes long time ago. Transistors replaced them. Heck you are better than me, all I know about vacuum tubes is that they have high input impedance, and use a heck of a lot more power than small signal transistors. Go no go is just a way to test if a diode or a transistor is conducting the other way. They are suppose to conduct only one way. Transistor amplifies. It has three leads. One for the base, and the other two is the collector, and the emmiter. A small base current controls a bigger current to the collector, emmiter juction. I am pretty sure the vacuum tube works somehow like this. Well nice to know you were a TV technician, and I do admire the electronic technician of early days. As of today they have finally got rid of the last vacuum tube, which is the CRT, and replaced them with LCD, and Plasma.

What a very interesting life you have lived in the past. Those were the days we can only relive in movies. For some reason I always thought those days were happier times. I guess because the good usa was victorious at the end. I din't know I guess I watch too much movies. hahahaha yeah I sure will check that out in google. Thanx a lot for sharing your lifes experience. I am not much of a writer, but if I was I would write a bibliography about you and show it to the world.

2004 cavalier died going down the rd.when you try to start it it makes a lot of odd buzzig sounds in the dash and you cant hear the fuel pump kick on

If the buzzing sounds like chatter, its a fuel pump relay that is either not getting enough voltage, a loose
connection, or you may just need to replace the relay.sometimes these relays will be behind the dash, accessible, or within your fuse block area, on chevy trucks i have seen them behind the glove box.
good luck!

Interior light malfunction and they buzz

Main control board located in white plastic enclosure at rear bottom of unit is bad, a burnt tracing on the board plus a few board component issues. Buzzing noise is from a confused relay. A Whirlpool product issue??? This appears to be a common problem and is discussed in several different forums. Implemented and "no cost" work around as detailed in one of the forums. Unit appears to function properly after repair/re-work.

Engine (97 ford ranger) stopped at stop lite and would not restart. Spark to plug wires, plenty of gas, good battery. after cranking several times, will start and run 3 or 4 sec. THE RELAY TO THE FUEL PUMP...

Just for the hell of it replace the fuse with a new one relative to the fuel pump also clean and inspect all electrical plugs and connections associated with the fuel system. There may be a bad ground with out the truck in front of me it will be difficult to go any further it is possible the pump is not creating enough pressure to close the relay have you replaced the fuel filter? If possible do a fuel pressure check at the fuel rail it should be 30 - 40 psi if not replace the pump.

You should have to get the truck scanned for codes, so there will be an exact direction to diagnose.

It could be you gonna have a bad valve cover gasket or the electrical connection that goes from valve cover gasket to injector.

It's also possible that the injector could be bad but you would have to test the electrical system to injector to determine that. I recommend you have truck scanned and we'll see what code it is and try to figure out what's going on.

Amana Dryer won't start

Depending on your interpretation of the 'buzzing' sound compared to mine, I'd say it may be a relay chattering or the motor trying to start up but the windings are beginning to fail. You may want to clean the motor housing from dust etc and make sure that you do that with the power disconnected. Also: with no clothes in teh dryer..try rotating it around and feel for any spots in that rotation that may be binding.. if the drum has excessive restriction while rotating.. the motor may not have enough torque to overcome that and just buzz,,, Hope that helps...

Confirmation: Lee2fixit's solution also worked on a Sanyo 19" TV Model DS19580with 'buzzing relay'. Chassis carriessimilar relay (Type DG1U 12VDC II TV-5 8A 250V~ also by DEC) at location RL601and a 25VDC 470uF electrolytic cap at C622. After confirming the relay was sound and finding no obviously faultedcomponents tied to it, replaced the cap. Bingo, normal operation and a quiet relay. Will post a follow-up ONLY if the fix failsbefore the rest of the TV .. it's almost10 years old after all. Thank youLee2fixit and
