Question about LG Flatron L3000A 30" LCD Monitor

Open Question

Acts funny connected to a laptop

Various laptop computers connect to this monitor (one at a time) through a VGA cable. Now, for unknown reasons, the monitor will only work with a desktop computer. When you plug in a laptop, the monitor goes into a power saving or a sleep mode and won't wake up..........until you unplug the laptop and plug in a desktop with the same VGA cable, same operating system, same network....same everything. It's weird.

SOURCE: digital power saving mode

Are you sure someone hasn't changed the power setting in windows. I've seen similar tricks pulled by so called mates. :-) If windows is OK then check the manual for the monitor and if you still can't crack it take it for a ride to the repair shop. It is under warranty after all. BMW

SOURCE: power saving mode knocks the computer out, have to restart

I have an LG Flatron 19" black w1952TQ that I bought on 2 Apr 2008; when it goes into sleep mode, will not recover. Did the online troubleshooting, reseting things, unplugging/replugging all cables, nothing works except restarting the computer, and that only works until it sleeps... Read more

SOURCE: Analog power save mode

i had the same problem with the same screen as you.
i connected the usual blue plug on my pc, and i got the same message as you did.
i finally realised that i connected it on the on-board graphics card(VGA?)
i added a new plug(adaptor) and then connected it on my graphics card.
everything works now!

It's just tha we are all used to the shape/colour of the port on our PCs

SOURCE: LG w2361vg sometimes get stuck in DVI Power Saving Mode

Maybe you can update your video card driver. My wife notebook is connected at times to my DELL17" flat screen and ever so often it cuts off in the middle of something. I update the video driver and reset the monitor to factory settings and it's working like a dream.
I suggest, you use the menu buttons on the LCD and reset it ot factory settings, and possibly update your video card.

If this monitor works with your lap top or the other PC (not your son's PC). Then your son PC video card may not be sending out the video signal so the monitor goes into power save mode.
Did you try another monitor with your son's PC yet?
Does the PC has plug in video card or it is integrated with the mother board, you can also try reseating the card and the RAM.

Model 2200W Proview LCD Monitor - How do I connect it to HP Laptop?

Since you don't provide the laptop model, I assume your PC has at least a 15 Pin VGA connector. You will need a 15 pin male VGA to 15 pin male VGA cable, just plug it at the laptop and the monitor, that should do. If your laptop has also an HDMI or DVI or Display Port, you will need a proper cable or adapter.

Using with a laptop

Connection the monitor depends on the connections you have out of your Toshiba laptop.

The monitor has both VGA and DVI.

If the Toshiba has a VGA out, all you need is a VGA cable available online, computer or electronics store.

If the Toshiba has an HDMI out, you can connect it to the DVI on the monitor with an HDMI cable and an HDMI to DVI Adapter.

You can also use USB out with either a VGA converter or a DVI converter (go with DVI for the better picture). Converters can be found online at Amazon, you may also need a standard male to male DVI cable to use with the converter.

I have CMV 946D Monitor and i am trying to connect it to my laptop via DVI cable and it doesn't work. my laptop is already connect to another monitor using VGA cable. do i need any driver or does DVI...

Sorry, but you can use only one port at a time, not both, It is either DVI or VGA. If you want to drive two monitors, you need to lok for docking station with dual video card.

Monitor turns off by itself during normal usage.

There are a few things you can try in order to narrow the the cause. First there's the easy outside-the-PC stuff such as:

- hook up a different power cable
- hook up a different video (VGA/DVI) cable
- You can always try switching to the other type of cable (try VGA if you're on DVI and vice-versa) to see if that makes a difference, assuming your monitor as both connectors.
- try connecting same monitor (and power/video cable) to a different PC for a day and see if it turns off there as well.
- For that matter connecting a "known good" monitor to your PC to see if that monitor also acts that way on your PC.

On the software side you can disable the power management features related to the display to see if that makes any difference.

If you were to connect this to a different PC with a different VGA/DVI cable and power cable and it still did it that I would say it's probably the monitor itself (unless the PCs were identical or something and under control of the same domain policies or some craziness like that).

At some point you probably want to call the manufacturer and see if an RMA is an option. I would recommend trying some things before that though. I hope this helped!

Dual Screens with a VGA connection

The easiest way would be to purchase a video card that has 2 vga ports on it, allowing dual monitor support. Here is an example.

My L1718S monitor go`s on and off all the time

The monitor switching off can be due to various reasons. I am ennumerating them..check each point carefully.

1. check the vga cable and power cable going to the monitor. they may be loosely connected. make sure the cables are firmly into the port at both ends.

2. there maybe power saving mode active... computer going into standby/suspend mode. check the power settings. right click desktop > properties> screensaver  tab... click power button.

3. If not using a UPS try checking the power supply for voltage fluctuations and spikes

Hope this will resolve your issue otherwise post back.

Am trying to connect hp monitor 2025 to my hp dv6000 laptop but for some reason cant get laptop to recognise the monitor ,what should i do.

Attach the monitor using the vga cable and right click on the laptops display and get into the settings tab. Go to the advanced setting and see if the option is there to "enable" a second monitor, there are times when this setting has to be clicked on. Also make sure your graphics drivers have been updated.

Monitor says No signal digital

Is ether the monitor or video card uses both DVI or VGA port. There may be a switch on the graphic card that changes it from DVI to VGA, often outside the card.

Also is the computer monitor set to the right setting if it can use both VGA and DVI, if using DVI (of any type) it need to switch to digital, and if using VGA it need to be set to analog. This may be a physical switch or using the settings button. (see manual how to change them)

PS: VGA port is a blue D shaped port with 15 pin holes, and DVI is a white rectangle port with one port being a line.
