Question about RCA 32V420T 32" TV

1 Answer

RCA F27442 27" TV

The picture on my TV looks really good...color, location, etc...except that the lettering on things like the ticker at the bottom of the screen on ESPN or the score boxes while watching a football game are blurred. They are actually like double vision. The picture is the same, but not very noticable while watching something like a movie. The lettering on the "Guide plus+ Gold", which the TV has, is clear. The lettering on Closed Caption is clear.
I tried adjusting the focus using the "Menu" button and the adjustment on the back, but nothing!
I finally took it to a repair shop. They say that the part it needs is on back order from RCA. I'm trying to find the part myself, but am having a hard time. The number the repair shop gave me is is an IC Chip. I've been told that I have to "cross reference" that number, but am having no luck doing so.
Can you help me get that part or tell me how to cross reference it?

Re: RCA F27442 27" TV

1) Ask what the part location on the board is = IC301 for example..
2) Provide service #
3) Could be LA7612N
4) If they were not blowing smoke, why didn't they give you a
six digit RCA part # ??

My 5 yr old, 26" RCA tv is now coming up in b&w instead of color. Same thing happens when connected directly to a DVD player. Color symbols (mute, etc) show up in color, only the actual tv picture is...

Have you tried to play with the colour in the user menu. I have children also and they can get creative and play with these settings ;-)

If you need more assistance just let me know..

My Zenith C32V28 television does not display the top and bottom of the picture. I phoned Zenith tech support who told me that it was the satellite signal. I called the satellite provider who advised me it...

This is applicable to Bell Television Services (Canada)
I solved the problem myself after two calls to both Zenith and Bell Television satellite service. On the bottom left of the Bell remote control there is a * (STAR BUTTON). Press this * button and within two seconds you must press the channel change button up or down. This will do two things. One; it changes the channel; and also changes the ratio of the satellite signal. There are three satellite signal ratio settings. Try this when you are tuned to a TV channel such as BNN (Canada) (Business News) or The American channel which has a stock ticker usually displayed along the bottom of the TV screen. Select the ratio (setting) that allows the stock ticker to be displayed......hope this helps.........Jim McP

Screen is bowed on top and bottom.

Projection sets have two very common problems outlined below.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. The TV can also shut down when the convergence starts to fail.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith, RCA and others.

You can more info and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from TV Repair Kits using the link at the end of this article.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped or bowed
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Screen adjustments??

On the remote, if you use the right and left keys on the pad with the OK sign in the middle, it will adjust the screen to several sizes including Cinema, 16:9, 4:3, Zoom, etc. I, personally, use 16:9 because I, like you, need to see the ticker symbols at the bottom. I hope this helps.

Samsung Projection HDTV BLURRY!

Each projection set has focus controls in back, usually they don't move or go out of focus unless someone moves it, but in your case if you open the back you will see a focus block with 6 knobs 3 are for screen,I would highly recommend that you don't move this. Look for the focus and you will have to set each with the one color. Cover the other two and adjust.

RCA 32V420T 32" TV

This RCA set uses the CTC187BD chassis. Look on the back of the set and to the right of the cable connector you will see 2 controls sticking out, one on top of the other. The top control is for focus and the bottom one is screen, or overall brightness. If these controls have been turned clockwise then you will have a bright, fuzzy picture with white lines (retrace lines) through it. Tune in a channel with white letters on the screen and turn the top (focus) control until the letters are crisp and sharp. Go into the menu and turn the contrast and brightness all the way down, and then turn the bottom control (screen) until you can just see the picture, just above the point where the picture is too dark to see. Go back into the menu and reset the contrast and brightness and the picture will be back to perfect.

RCA F32649

i dont know this exact model, but i can advice you based on a slightly diffrent model. i hope the solution will be valid for your model as well: TV is digital controlled and have to be adjusted via service menu except the external focus and screen on back of (flyback) high voltage transformer. This is one you can try: Need plastic allen or plastic small flat blade screwdriver to fit these. Focus is top, bottom is the screen that set the overall brightness. Before adjusting, go in menu: press menu once, select picture quality, I think number 4, press 2 for "preset..", press 2 again to select normal. Back out by pressing zero repeatedly. It may ask you to save new settings, select yes. If screen is adjusted too bright, picture look lousy (washed out) the blacks will light up (becomes grey, or visible lines) this means you have actual fault that prevents you to get decent pix, that when it is time to take it in for repair.
