After playing Halo 3 the colors started changing then 2 days later XBOX wont show any video or sound, can hear game turning but nothing on screen. Tried new av cable hooked up to different tv no difference made. Is this really the end of my XBOX and did HALO 3 do this? Any comments greatly appreciated.

I get sound but no picture. I've checked the cables & connections - didn't find any dirt/dust/etc. & everything's connected properly. There are no red lights and everything seems to be running properly except the image. Oh, and it's not the TV either, a separate DVD player worked fine on the same AV channel. It's not the game.

If you switch to a different game, and it still doesn't work, then it definetly wasn't caused by the game. I don't think a store bought game can cause permanent damage to the system anyway (although a pirated copy or homebrew software can). I know this may seem simple, but have you checked the HDMI switch on the AV cable? Also, check to see if something (dust, dirt, soda) got on the cable end and got the contacts in the back of the 360 dirty. I had a network cable that had soda spilled on it (I didn't know) and it took me two days to figure out why my 360 wouldnt connect to the net. I had to clean the contacts in the back of the Xbox with a contact pen. Good luck.

Have you tried pulling all other scart connections out of the TV, and putting the X box scart in the very top one. I know it sounds weird, but ive heard it works, something to do with the other appliances taking away the picture. Worth a go.
Hope this helps

4 flashing red lights around ring. Game has sound but no picture on the screen

hi, 4 flashing red lights indicates a fault with the video lead, now if you unplug the lead from the back of the xbox and switch it on you should get the same 4 red lights so try that just to check.

now unplug the lead from the telly and your xbox and then refit it make sure you push it in the back of the xbox far enough, if after doing that you still have the problem then this means your going to need to replace the video lead.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

My xbox 360 has no display, i have bought a new cable but still no joy

ok if you still have sound but no picture then this means you should be expecting the dreaded red lights soon so take it to be repaired and it will be as good as new and i can assure you it isn't your lead that's the problem it shouldn't cost you much either to get it repaired but if there is no sound picture and red lights then its dead so just give up and buy a new one as this would be hard to recover and not worth anyone's time and effort as they seem to break a lot when they have already been repaired once before hope this has been of help

E73 on xbox 360

This problem was a MASSIVE defect in the Xbox 360. Your graphic chip has been burned to an extent that renders it useless. "The Red Ring of Death" can only be fixed by calling Microsoft, and having your Xbox sent in. But not to worry, because of the RR of D, Microsoft issued a 3 YEAR warrenty to all Xboxs with that problem, so your covered!

Sound but no picture

Ya that does seem a little suspicious . You should have defaulted
to stranded video out after it's been off and if the cables are good
then I have to say you more than likely have what's known as
(dead video feed) caused by the G.P.U. disconnect/ broken connection
to the main board . This is normally the cause of a lose of video single
One thing to try goto game stop and buy a multi a/v adapter
they cost 12.00 on one end you'll have the xbox a/v plug and
on the other end use what's called the s-video out plug
it's the small round one . Plug this one in to your set and make
sure your set is on that video input . sometime you
will still receive video feed from this line when other are
dead. If not then what you're left with is having to have the G.P.U.
re-flow back to the P,C. board this fixes dead video 90%
of the time. 60% of boxes are 3 red light 20% are 1 red
and 10% are no video and freezing. 10% failing C.D. roms

If you have any questions please ask before
you rate this tip

No picture but sound

Which lead are you using? If it's the HD one, make sure you have each wire in the correct hole. Try changing them around if not.

Have sound no picture and 2 green rings around power button

They are green?!? usualy when people have problems with  the xbox 360 hardware, the lights turn red. This xbox 360 may have a birth defect... Best thing to do is call 1800-4my-xbox. Talk to a representative about sending your xbox in, ONLY if you have not voided the warranty. If so, you will most likely have to buy a new xbox or new motherboard for it.
Also try changing your video settings to tv instead of hd, or hd if it is plugged into a hd tv. You might have toggled the HD switch on the video/audio chords.

Red lights in console ring flashing (2 left lights & bottom right)

im guessing this is an xbox.....which leads me to beleive what we like to call the "3 red ring of death" which is not good.

there is no easy homemade fix to this problem better get on the phone with microsoft and get started on sending yours back unless you have a warrenty with the store you bought it from.
