If it is not blowing at all then it is the blower fan not working. Check the fuse first before anything else. If it is not the fuse then most like it is the fan that has a worn out brush inside.

How to turn off air compressor on 1999 ford expedition

  • Under the hood in the relay panel will be a relay for the compressor. When you locate the relay box look on the underside of the lid for the legend (layout) of the relays. Pulling that relay will stop the compressor from turning on.
  • You can also just unhook the connector on the compressor and secure it to stop the compressor from turning on.
  • If you need the compressor clutch to not turn at all, like if the bearings are bad, then you need to buy a smaller belt to bypass the compressor all together.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Hello, i have a 98 ford escort lx, no power to a/c compressor, replaced high and low pressure switches, checked to compressor, replaced orfice tube, put freon, checked pressure (but its high), checked a/c...

There is a red wire going to the AC clutch, if you apply direct 12volts will it engage? If so, the constant control relay module (CCRM) could be defective. Hope this helps.

Where is the clutch hydraulic reservoir on a 1993 ford escort lx?

The clutch and brake system use the same reservoir, there is a hose coming out from the side of the reservoir that goes over to the clutch master cylinder. Sometimes the brake fluid level goes low as brake pads wear and lowers the fluid level too low to work the clutch. Hope this helps, let me know.

Screching noise when i turn on AC

sounds like front bearing on compressor. clutch works on magnetic pull in principle so screech is probably bearing and not clutch assembly.
