It really depends on how much money you want to spend and whether you will be playing games or multimedia. Lately, Nvidia has the edge with it's new GTX line vs ATI top contenders (i.e. 4870x2 et al). I upgraded 6 months ago opting for older tech because it would be cheaper (VisionTek 3870oc w/512 DDR4) I paid <$100 with shipping.

Like I said before it depends how much you want to spend, think of it as an one time purchase, if it could ever be that, buy the most you can afford and if not wait until you have more marbles so you can ;)

I have an intel 35EC motherboard and i want to buy a GDDR3 graphic card(say NVidia GeForce 150). I'm just not sure if its compatible or not...is thr anyway i cud know if it will work or not. Thanks.

Concerned that the graphic card's GDDR3 graphics memory isn't compatible with the Intel DG35EC's system memory? (DDR2 Sdram)

Don't be.

The graphic card's graphics memory runs independent of the computer's system memory.

The graphic card could have GDDR5 graphics memory, and it wouldn't matter.

2) http://nvidiagraphicscards.com/nvidia-geforce-gts-150-information.php

3) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_100_Series#OEM_GeForce_100

What you need to be concerned with is;

A) Will the card FIT in your computer case?

The card is approximately 4 and 3/8ths inches Tall, (4.376) and 10 and a half inches Long. (10.5)
It takes up the room of TWO slots in Width.

B) Does your Power Supply have enough power?
The card uses 141 Watts by - itself when operating at maximum.

Your Power Supply should have at least 24 Amps on the 12 Volt power rail.

Lookin for a good video card

I have a ATI Radeon 4870 1G HD - amazing graphics card, although I bought it for about $750 NZD which is like $400 American it is an excellent top of the line graphics card.

I've got a few sites for you to check out graphic cards, compare and contrast. They helped me, so hopefully they will help you!

I dont know which type of ram my ati mobility radeon hd 4570 uses? is it gddr3 or ddr2. im using dell studio 1555 laptop

Hi there.

Looking at the specs, it could be DDR2/DDR3 or even GDDR3. The best way to find out, is to open your BIOS setup screen when you first turn on the system. It should be listed on the first page that lists what processor your running.

Hope that helps.

Hows it going?

Unfortunately no. I just thought i would wait for you to reply. I dont trust everyones advice so i just held out for yours. The DDR2 Corsair CM2X1024-6400 G worked but only with my old video card. It worked al the way up to the part where it said it will shut down in 15 sec. So at least I got a picture this time. But that left me worrying about whether or not I have 2 bum 9800 GX2 1GB GDDR3 Graphics cards. 8( But I also wanna know why it said it was shutting down in 15 sec. Help Ekse, we are close man. I know we can do it. Show me the way Jedi Master 8)

Can asrock m266a support geforce 8600gt

Dear hiran89

Please see the specification of your motherboard at the following link of Asrock. It supports only up to AGP 4x.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=M266A

The 8600GT GPU does not come in AGP setups only PCI-Express. In general even if you were to have this card then the rest of your system would bottleneck the capabilities of the card.

My advice is to buy something more suited to the system you own such as a RADEON RX2600PRO, GEFORCE 7600GT,..but still these may be still more than the system deserves right now.

Saying this the most powerfull graphics card now in AGP are the ones below

GEFORCE 7900GS, 512MB DDR3
ATI HD 3850, 512MB GDDR3
