Next step for the rebirthing of my DSC-V1 ??

Hello Obertelli, thank you very much for your reaction.Meanwhile I could use a battery from a cybershot DSC-P10 which uses the same battery as my DSC-V1 but......No sign of life ...;-) NOTHING happens when I put the battery inside the cam and touched the ON button. Is there maybe something as a "reset" or...or ...or...? ;-)
Thank you .
kind regards.

Hi Pat,

There is a reset button which is recessed on the underside of the camera, next to the battery cover. You'll need something like an unbent paperclip to press the bottom and it resets the camera back to factory presets. This reset includes setting the the file numbering system back to zero so if it works you'll need to go into the menu and manually set your file and folder numbering to something which won't clash with earlier photos.

The only trouble is that the camera needs to be powered up for the reset to work, so you'll need to plug the charging lead into the camera to power it up.

If this fails, then your camera has sadly become a parts donor.

DSC-V1's in excellent condition regularly appear on auction websites but take care: many will have a CCD just waiting to fail so either ask if it's been replaced by Sony (making sure the seller can supply proof) or get a DSC-V3 which is very similar but does not have the risk of a faulty 5MP CCD. The DSC-V1 is still a better camera though as it handles better and has less image noise.

Are you sure it is your charger and not the battery? (Batteries)

You could buy a new Sony charger, but there are lots of universal camera battery chargers, that won't cost as much and you can use it for every battery from every camera. Pick the right one and you have a charger for years to come, whatever your new camera will be and how big or small the batteries are.

It is possible that the image sensor which is the CCD- charge coupled device is faulty and will need a replacement. However it is important that the OE part is required and so is best to take consensus with Sony spares and service.

Wheres reset button on sony cybershot dsc w130???

I'm glad to provide the information about the Camera. The Camera does not have a RESET button to press manually to reset it.

If you wish to reset the Camera, you can use the Initialize option from the Menu item to perform it if the Camera is allowing it.

Please perform a power resetting if the Camera is not turning ON or you're unable to access the Menu items. Please follow the below steps to perform a power resetting
  • Remove the battery from Camera.
  • Press and hold the Power button for more than 15 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery
  • Turn ON the Camera.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require further assistance.

When I turn it on the screen stays black until I

  1. Ensure the camera is turned on.
  2. If applicable, ensure the lens cover has been removed before taking pictures.
  3. Ensure the LCD backlight is turned on by pressing the DISPLAY button several times until the screen appears. NOTE: Depending on the camera model, the DISPLAY button may be labeled as DISP or with a display icon [FIG. 1]. This button could be a standalone button or incorporated as one of the control arrow buttons depending on the model of camera.
  4. If operating the camera with a battery, ensure the battery is fully charged.
  5. Ensure the battery is inserted properly in the camera.
  6. If operating the camera with the power adapter, ensure it is plugged into a working AC outlet.
  7. Ensure no Audio/Video (A/V) cables are connected for viewing pictures on a TV; the LCD screen will not display when an A/V cable is connected.
  8. Perform a reset procedure on the camera.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required. The Sony Service Web site at http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.
