You must have a belt tensioner somewhere. Have a look near your belt pully or a idler pully that has an adjustment screw where you can tighten your belt to give grip. It appears the weight of the mower is causing the belt to slip hence it no moving because your belt /belts are slipping

Self propell not working right

Leave aside all the puffery about 3-1 and such, you described a front wheel drive (pull) walk-behind (FWD), but are asking why the rear wheels won't propel. When you push down the hand grip the front wheels should spin free. Whan you lower from wheels by releasing pressure on hand grips, turning wheels lowered to ground should propel the mower along with its unpowered rear wheels now turning be ground contact. Reminder, never, ever lift rear drive wheels of any mower off the ground while walking behind with engine running:
  1. You could be struck by blade propelled object.
  2. You could pull mower and spinning blade backward onto your feet.
  3. You could lose balance and be pulled forward in a fall.
Contemporary FWD mowers are recognized by a black chain housing on deck top leading from engine to left front of deck. RWD propelling chains are situated underneath deck so cannot be seen from above.

Why isn't Lawnboy lawn mower model NO. 10604 drive not working

Inspect the pulley where the belt loops on the wheel transmission. There is a tension spring, that when you pull the level, it puts tension on the belt. If that spring is missing or the pulley does not provide tension the wheels will not turn because the transmission is not being engaed..

I have a Honda HRR2165VXA mower that is having issues with the smart drive.

hello, hello, Drive belt replacement for front drive mowers. remove the belt coved on top of deckand clean out grass, turn mower on side where carb is facing up,use a pair of vice grips on side of mower deck so the blade can stop, remove the blade, remove the belt cover and clean out the grass, remove belt from rear and front pulley pulleys. install new belt, put belt cover and blade back on,put front belt cover on, should work,if that is not the problem; wheels will not prepeal the mower, wheels turn only when raised off ground, Check the gears or groves on the inside of the wheel for access wear that is a common problem, check the axle drive gears to make sure turns ok, to check gear box if ok pull mower back wards while drive is engaged,if wheels turn backwards than the trams is bad,all of this is caused by the operator,by not disengaging drive while pulling mower backwards or by holding mower back not allowing to propel self completely, hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you.

Front wheels quit pulling

Ya most likely the lever that you normally squeeze to make it "go" has a cable. Cables stretch just like belts. If you replaced the belt already then that automatically removes any stretching that the first belt would have suffered from no doubt. Look at the drive lever's cable up at the lever end. There is usually a cable adjuster there. It will be a threaded shaft portion with a nut or knurled ring to spin. tighten up that "go lever" cable a bit. Even better, if you have visual access to the belt as you squeeze the drive lever, then you can see if squeezing that lever moves one of the belt's pulleys enough to cause it to tighten it up enough to transfer spin motion thru the belt to the other pulley. You see that whole system is really a "slip belt clutch" when belt is loose, no forward motion, as you squeeze the "go/drive" lever the pulley moves away tightening up the belt more and more. The tighter the belt, the less the slippage, the faster you go! But the slippage is necessary! ( That's the clutch component) If you simply had the belt tight all the time, the mower would always go full speed! It would be in full time "run away mode" LOL! so watch out. Once you see it in action...you'll get the idea no problem!

Toro 20073 self propeled, walk behind mower-how to replace belt ?

Wait until the mower cools off

1. Remove the drive belt cover from the top of the mower
2. Tip the mower up, being careful to not go too far or the oil and fuels may spill out
3. Remove the mower blade - as I recall the bolt is 5/8" (could be 9/16") You will have to hold the blade from turning (if you have impact tools, this will be much easier)
4. Remove the blade
5. Pull the pulley out or off and remove the belt - be careful to not lose the crankshaft "woodruff" key - it's the little piece of half/moon shaped metal that keeps the pulley from spinning on the crankshaft.
6. Reverse the steps to reinstall

You MUST make sure the blade is tight when you reinstall it. Also, the blade usually fits over a couple of pins - make sure they are lined up properly and the blade is installed right-side up.
