Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool Imperial Series refrigerator that has water coming from the bottom- onto the floor. The evaporation pan is nowhere near full. It is not apparent where the water is coming from. Any ideas?

Hi, Dounfd like the defrost drain in the freezer is plugged. Remove the rear panel inside the freezer and locate the drain hole under the evaporator coil.
Once all the ice has been removed, flush the drain with hot water. Some models require an after market drain heater kit. If you will get me a model #, Ican look this up for you.

What is plugged to cause water to come from under refrigertor?

The defrost water drain tube may be clogged with "gunk". You can confirm this by inspecting the evaporation pan under the cabinet. If it is dry, the cabinet isn't draining. I have found the evaporation pan (usually flimsy plastic) cracked, allowing water to leak onto the floor.

Subzero 632 drain pan full of water and overflows onto floor

Dear,

Any one who charges that much for a "freon" leak in a 632 and does not replace the evaporator is a complete charlatan. Your "freon" will leak out again and more problems will occur.

regards,

dont rate it until satisfied

Oo.comI am getting water in the bottom of the refrigerator enough for it to leak out the front and spill onto the floor. I believe it is coming down the back wall. How can I fix it?

the drain hole for the evaporator drain pan is plugged, you need to remove rear panel in freezer inside wall, thaw out any ice in the drain hole located under the evaporator coil, then take a small wire and rod-out this drain hole till you get water coming out the end of this tube at the pan located near the bottom of the machine near the compressor

I have a whirlpool imperial refrigerator; freezer on top; with icemaker....water is leaking from the freezer section down onto top shelf in refrigerator, near back, any help??

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Actually the leaking water is from the evaporator coil unit.... Under normal conditions,Self-defrost refrigerators usually dispose the water generated during the defrost cycle through a tube or channel that directs the water a pan (Known as Drip pan), commonly below the refrigerator unit....
The channel or tube is clogged and the water is leaking to the refrigerator unit, so you need to clear that contamination....Once the blockage is removed, the generated water will move through that channel/tube directly to the drip pan and there will no water on the top shelf in the refrigerator compartment. This is all you need to do....

Best of Luck,

Water on interior shelf of refrigerator - Whirlpool, Imperial Series with top freezer

First check the door seal for leaks, If none found. Remove the back panel in your freezer and at the bottom of the evaporator coil you will see a hole about ½” in diameter this is the drain tube. You might need to use some warm water to melt the ice and then run a wire being very careful not to puncture the hose and run it down the tube to free up the drain. This tube travel down to the bottom of your refrigerator to a pan sometimes located on top of the compressor or somewhere else down there. It collects the water there to evaporate. You can enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com for a diagram or illustration of your refrigerator. Not all models are available.

Water leaking from bottom of refrigerator

THE WATER IN THE PAN IS FOR THE FAN WHICH COOL THE COMPRESSOR. MAKE SURE THE FAN IS WORKING. IT USES THE MOISTURE FROM THAT WATER TO COOL YOUR COMPRESSOR.

In the frezzer ice is forming under the floor and dripping down onto the floor of the refrigerator part under the veg drawers

first remove the floor and back wall of the freezer. remove the ice from the floor and drain pan careful not to damage the evaporator and drain pan. to the right of cener on the bottom of the drain pan is the drain hole. use a turkey baster and hot water to thaw the drain, you should hear water dripping into the drain pan when thawed. install a heat probe whirlpool part number 819043. or wrap a thick piece ( about the size of a pencil lead) of copper wire around the heater located under the evaporator. make it long enough to go about 2 inches into the drain. don't let the wire touch the sides of the drain hole or touch the bottom of the tube, this will prevent the drain from freezing. i recommend using the heat probe from whirlpool but the wire will work too. hope this helps.

Overflowing drip pan under the fridge

for reallybsq
problem could be door seals not sealing completely and hence excessive ice formed on evaporator and excess water when it melts. however, i have found this problem many times with large larder fridges and really found no cure.

for guest.
towards the bottom of the back wall, there is a gulley with a drain hole in the middle. this drain is blocked. clear it with something flexible and make sure water flows away freely
