Just because it wont start doesn't mean your MAGNETO is shot. There could be a short in the ground wire. A damaged high tension lead. Do the tests and figure it out. A magneto can be costly .

SOURCE: Toro lawn mower. Have trouble starting(starts and

Remove the float bowl located under the carburetor it is a 1/2 bolt some gas will poor out so put a rag under the carb to soak up the gas, you actually may want to use a small container to collect the gas or make sure the gas tank is empty, remove the float bowl after removing the bolt by grasping it and turning, the bowl will most likely have debree and water in it clean with a rag and solvent and reinstall, becareful of the ruuber ring gasket when reinstalling the float bowl, one some movers there is no float bowl if you have this type of engine the tank and carb must be removed disassembled and clean out. Do not store mowers uncovered they must be covered when not in use, water gets into the fuel system and causes this problem.

SOURCE: Unable to restart Toro lawn mower after it backfired and stopped.

Did you hit something? Sounds to me like a flywheel key sheared off or a major internal part broke. My thoughts are you will need to take this to a repair shop or individual that can comfortably tear into the engine.

SOURCE: What kind of oil do I need for a Toro 6.75 lawn mower? How often do I need to make an oil change?

Hi dirk_koeppen...
You will use a good grade of 30W non-detergent oil.
Change your oil once per season/year

I have a 38 inch ride on 1997 model 71193 just changed oil oil is at proper level it pushes heavy smoke at high rpm it is pushing oil into bottom of air cleaner through port , is this the pcv? Do I need...

Was it smoking before you changed oil? Did it start as soon as you changed the oil or did it start smoking a few days later?

Check the oil level again... Ethanol gas kills these Needle valves in the carburetor allowing gas to run through the carb, into the cylinders and down to the Crankcase.

Troubleshoot toro ridinglawn mower starts but refuses to move

If it is hydro-static check to see if the transmission is disengaged it should be located on the back of the mower.

Will start, but dies soon after. There is no choke on this mower. Engine speeds up and slows down before dying.

The float in the bowl and needle needs to be changed or cleaned real good. The float is opening up the needle enough to get it running but not floating in the fuel bowl to keep the right amount going to carb.
