Question about Bosch 24 in. SHU6802UC / SHU6806UC Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

Bosch dishwasher won't latch and has disintegrating seal at base

I have a 12 yr 1 month old Bosch shu6806uc/u06 dishwasher. I have spent money (2+ years ago ) on a new control panel, a new dispenser and some sort of clip 18 months ago. Today, it won't turn on because the door will not latch. Nothing is blocking it. Also, the gasket seems to be dissolving. Is this worth having fixed or should I take advantage of July 4th appliance sales?

SOURCE: Problem with Bosch built-in Dishwasher Model SHU6806UC

I had the same problem and just today replaced the control board module. Purchased the control module online and installed in myself. Was not that difficult. undo the screws (torx screw driver needed) unhook the connections to the board and label all. Pull the board out and open, found burned connectors. Now works like a dream.

SOURCE: Bosch Dishwasher SHX46A latch stuck in down possition.

look at the latch via the hole in the door where it closes to the tank? is the latch faced away from the tank? if so, then grab a paper clip and fold it so you can hook it around the latch then just pull outward towards the tank. you might need to hold that paper clip with some pliers. if it happens more than once then you will need to replace that door lock.

I have a bosch 7801 dishwasher that is 12 years old and is not heating the water? I presume that this is the heating element so is it worth fixing or should I buy a new one?

The new ones don't have a heating element. They tell me the US government doesn't allow them anymore because it's not "energy efficient". My 20-year old Kenmore washed better than my one-month old Bosch. Fix it if you can!

Door won't lock

If your dishwasher door won't lock, it could be a problem with the latch adjustment or the door seal. Some latches are designed to be adjustable, and yours may be set too tightly. Look at the owner's manual for specific instructions or follow these basic steps for adjusting the latch:

1. Spray WD-40 or other lubricant onto the latch.
2. Slowly open and close the door several times, noticing whether the door hits the strike plate (the metal plate on the top of the dishwasher frame). Use a hammer to lightly tap the strike plate to move it as needed.
3. If possible, adjust the depth of your latch by unscrewing the latch assembly using a screwdriver and reseating it. Work with the adjustment until it latches correctly.
Note: If your latch is permanently fixed, have a qualified professional address the problem.

The door seal-also called a gasket-can also cause problems if you have a brand new dishwasher or door seal. The good news is that the door seal will mold to the door's shape over the first week or so. Operating your dishwasher with the highest level of heat will help this process happen more quickly. Because the material is pliable, and because heat will soften it, it will seal to the door more securely after those first few loads.

On the flip side, an old door seal can also keep your door from closing correctly. Check the seal for signs of warping or damage. If the seal needs replacing, arrange for service, or consider doing it yourself. In most models, it's a relatively easy DIY project. See Dishwasher gasket replacement for step-by-step instructions.

For more troubleshooting steps, see Dishwasher door repair. I hope this helps!

I have a bosch dishwasher shu6805uc/u06 to long to wash.

Well not going into the dry cycle could be a timing issue or a EOC (control panel) issue and will need to be addressed. But most dishwashers these days have a active run time during normal cycle of 110 to 120 mins, and thats not including the heated dry feature. I would let the unit run and see if it will finish on its own, and if I say it pushes two and half hours then something is wrong. A tech would most likely have to look at it, also a power reset could help but thats like a 30% chance.
