When I recieve text messages my Lg xenon ''talks'' . For instance it will say ''message from ...'' I can not figure out how to turn this message alert setting off, I have looked everywhere on the phone but...

You need to disable Call Alert in your Voice Command settings...go into menu - settings - more - application settings - voice command. The last option on the list will be Call Alert, change to ring only.

Ring Tones for test messages

You can change the text message alert tones but you have to do it by accessing the phone's file system via a data cable connected to your computer. Goto and search for text alerts and you'll find detailed instructions on how to do it.

When on silent, the phone still makes alert noises

Go into the main menu
Sound settings or Alert Settings
There will be an option for alerts (text messages) you can then change it.

Post back if you need further help. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

Removing/clearing message icon on my rumor!

In "Messaging" go into Voice Mail (number 1) and select Clear Icon (Number 3).

Go into Settings/Tools- Settings (#1)- Messaging (#5)-Notification (#1)- Change this To Icon only.

Still in Messaging, select Message Reminder (#5) and change it so it doesnt keep sending reminders.

If its telling you you have a text just go in each inbox and selcet Delete all... see if that helps.

Voicemail alert tones

I think that there is just a generic message alert tone setting applies for both vm and text. If your voicemail alert tone and message alert tones are the same, this is probably the case. I have searched the menu on my phone and haven't found any setting to change vm tone specifically.
