Question about MSI S260 Barebone

Notebook shutting down

Recently I had our computer tech at work upgrade my notebook(Dell Inspiron 1100) by adding a memory chip and installing Outlook 2007. Couple days past and I notice that my notebook would shut down in the middle of any program that was running . I took the notebook back to our computer tech and he ran some test, however he was unable to resolved the problem. The memory chip was purchased at a local computer store.

Oh, open my notebook and removed the new memory chip to see if that was causing the problem, but after a few hours the notebook shut down.

Take out the chip and see if it works better, if it does, you have to put the same kind of chip in it as the one that is in it. make sure they bouth are the same. they have numbers on the get the same name, most poeople put in differant brands and they dont work well together.

Hi. My Dell Inspiron 1525 is not working. The message is try to reseat the memory. What should I do?

If you've added/removed/upgraded the memory recently, the answer would be to open the system up and remove the memory dimms, then pop them back into the original slots they were in. It could be that one of the memory dimms aren't correctly seated in the slot.
If you haven't had the system upgraded recently and you don't want to open the system up the only answer is to take it in to the service center and have the memory dimm/s reseated.
Worst-case scenario is that the memory dimm in question is faulty and needs replacement. This isn't very likely, but definitely possible.
Good luck.

I have dell inspiron 1100 laptop, when i turn it on fan goes on for about 15 sec, with no screen, power lights and battery lights either, i can hear sound from HDD and DVD rom, but after 25 sec everything...

Could be loose battery pack.
A bad memory chip would do this as well. Sounds like your not getting power.

Try this,

Unplug it, remove battery, wait couple minutes, press and hold the power button for 5 full long seconds, wait couple minutes more, then put battery back in securely, then plug in, turn back on.

I want to upgrade my inspiron 1100 processor

To be honest, the Inspiron 1100 is probably not worth the effort and cost to upgrade
The fast is proc is a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 CPU, max ram 1GB of RAM,
You can find several dell portables below $500

Upgrading ram on laptop, new ram not recognized.

remove the bios battery for a few seconds...and place it back on ...this will make it see the new ram memory modules...if you are sure they are compatible ..they will work .....in fact ..the ddr1 333 512 M is more that compatible with your system and it will work after you remove the battery ...\ my recommendation is to reinstall a clean operation system after you boot up ...and format the C partition too...this have to be done after memory changes to get the max out of them ..

In compatible chips.

Go to www.offtek.co.uk There is a free scan check, with readout with recommendation, will tell you what is connected and not, and what to install.

Good luck!

Inspiron 1100--fan has recently started running often & long. Computer gets very warm to the touch & runs very slowly. Shuts down randomly--during virus scans, disk clean ups, etc

sounds like the heat exchanger is clogged. Try using canned air blowing in both the air intake and exhaust to unclog the heatsink and also make sure the system has the most current BIOS version.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. I was recently

Remove the drive by turning the computer upside down and take the screw out between the battery and the memory cover (next to a padlock symbol). Insert the screw driver into the little notch in the plate next to where the screw was and slide it towards the drive. The drive should now pop out. Boot the computer. Shut the computer down and reinsert the drive and reboot.

Dell Inspiron 1100 won't read 512 Meg ram.

I had the same problem. I tried several brands of memory unsuccessfully, though they all guaranteed that their products would work with my machine. Finally, my brother (who works in IT) recommended that I go through The Upgrade Place (http://www.theupgradeplace.com/). Great price - less than half of what Dell charges - and the memory worked immediately upon installation.

When I told them that I had a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, they said that my PC required proprietary memory (which is true). I paid with a credit card and received the part two days later.

Good luck,

Dell Inspiron 1100 does not see new memory

Install one memory first to any of the memory slots and boot your laptop... then do the same on the other slot with the same memory.

Now do the same step to the other memory...

That is to see if any of the two memory has a problem or to see which memory slot has a problem... You should find a problem in there... that would be memory or the memory slot.
