My HP PSC 2355xi tells me there is a paper jam whenever i put paper in it. I was printing some documents one day, having no problems, then suddenly it started showing this message. As far as I can see, there is no paper stuck in the printer. I took the unit apart. The front and back paper path is clear. I went online with HP but they could not fix the problem.

it may have damaged the feed mechanism, this usually happens when theres a paper jam and we just pull it out. try powercycling the printer (unpug power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet too) leave it for 2mins, plug it back in to the printer first then to the wall outlet. if that dont work, ive posted the link for that printer here, check out the manuals and troubleshooting steps too, they're all for free. you can also contact 800-HP invent or 800-474-6836.
SUGGESTION #1 The print carriage might be jammed. Follow these steps to correct the problem:
With the power on, lift the print cartridge access door. The print carriage should move to the access area located on the right.
If the print carriage stays all the way left, reset the unit by unplugging the then plugging in the power cord.
If the carriage still does not move to the right, continue with the steps below.
Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
Remove both print cartridges.
Push the print carriage slightly to the left and then to the right to verify that the print carriage is not jammed. If the print carriage will not move, check for obstructions under and around the carriage.
Close the print cartridge access door.
Plug in the power cord.
When the " Insert Print Cartridges " message displays, open the print cartridge access door and insert the print cartridges. Verify that both cartridges are seated correctly and lock into position.
SEGGUSTION #2 cleaning rollers
Over time dust and paper fibers will accumulate on the paper feed rollers. This can cause paper feed problems. Follow the steps below to clean the rollers:
Figure 3: Paper feed rollers
Turn off the all-in-one and unplug the power cord.
Remove the rear access door (as describe above in this document).
Clean each roller using a clean lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water (distilled water preferred).
Rotate the rollers to clean the entire surface.
Verify that the paper feed rollers on the rear access door are clean and rotate easily.
Re-seat the rear access door.
Plug in the power cord and turn on the all-in-one.
If these suggestions don't fix the problem feel free to write back to me. Try to be a little more specific i.e does paper feed properly, error message shows with paper/without paper or both, do any of the lights flash when this happens, have you tried diiferent paper sizes ot types. Have you taken it apart to check for any obstructions?
