Try to load the disc without the harddrive,if this works,
perform the system maintainance on the xbox,
go to system settings, memory, press y for device options, if you see the options rename and format then you are on the right screen, press x, x, left bumper, right bumper and then x, x, again..
make sure that the disc was bought in the same country that the console was purchased..
or it could be the disc itself, try other discs

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

why this is happening is because your hard drive may have a corrupted file inside that game but your not screwed i have a solution :) while it is a crappy process you have to call the support center 1-800-4myxbox and tell them exactly whats happening they should tell you to go to the dashboard then system hard drive and you type a button code much liek a cheat which will let them observe your consoles memory code as you play so when you turn it on and it freezes they see what code is making freeze and delete it. i had to do this but when it froze again my console got the three red lights lets hope this doesnt happen to you. i have some things to try at hom though try unplugging your ethernet cable and all other cords then re-plugging them back in. if that doesnt work try re-setting your network connection, unplug modem and router for 3 minutes then re-plug in and let sit for another 3 minutes if this doesnt work call xbox support.

I had that problem occur when placing an incorrect region into my console. Make sure you're dealing with an NTSC-U disc (obviously assuming your in North America).
