Ipod will not turn on
I have a 5th generation Ipod video-30 gig, that will not turn on. It was given to me with a busted display, figured I would replace the display and go, but it will not power on. I don't know much about Ipods, but I am an electronics tech so I should be able to repair with guidance. I bought a brand new USB charging/sync cable, tried pluggin into USB all day- no recognition by PC, will not turn on. Tried switching the hold on then off, then holding the center button and menu button for up to 2 minutes, and nothing. Even tried holding center and play button, as I have seen people do, still nothing. My next plan was to get a new battery, but figured I would ask around first before I started buying parts.

- Thanks for the reply. Actually haven't replaced the display yet. Kind of wanted to make sure there were no other problems before I started spending money. I am assuming even having a cracked display, it should still power up and be recognized by the computer?Jul 09, 2009
- Here is an update. I bought a used working ipod to play swaptronics. First off all, the battery was bad. With the working battery it powered up, but the screen stays white and the hard drive sits there and clunks. Put the clunking hd in the working ipod and get the sad face. Put the good hard drive, battery, and display on the original unit, and still have just a white display. So I am thinking that every component in the unit was bad- display-cracked battery-dead, won't charge or power up logic board-causes white display hard drive-making clunking noise, and sad facePopular Solutions for Apple iPod Video 30 GB Black
