About 1/3 of the way over, one vertical line of text in my resume seems to be bolded going down through the entire document. The rest looks fine, any ideas?

Sounds like a smudge on the encoder strip. The clear plastic behind the carriage assembly. if you hold the paper at the paper path the encoder strip will have the smudge in the same area as on the paper. you can clean it with a damp Q-tip...gently though

Why do i have faded vertical lines of stretching text when printing documents and how can i fix this?

try reloading your printer driver, also try your printer on another computer, this is an effort to ascertain where the problem is and decide what to do about it. IE if the problem is evident on another computer tan it is quite likely your printer, if this is the case, I find that printers these days are so cheep(inexpensive) it is probably best that you just get a new one for the cost of repair might exceed the cost of a new with a (Warranty) to boot, if you are mechanically and electronically inclined you might be able to repair this problem but it could take some time. your choice.
Good luck and best wishes Falco

My HP LaserJet 1300 printer smudges the entire document and the toner is very faint. The cartridge has toner in it.

It means your machine needs cleaning. You can purchase cleaning sheets from the office supply store, and insert it like a regular document, hit print, and the dirt comes off.

I AMHAVING MICROSOFT 2003 WORD IT DOES NOT CHECK SPELLING. HOW TO MAKE IT CHECK SPELLING.

Select some text in the document that contains a known mispelling. Under Tools > Language, look at the box for "do not check spelling or grammar." If
it is gray or checked, uncheck it. Run the spell check.

This is a text-specific setting, like bold or italics. It does not apply to
a computer, an instance of Word, or even an entire document. This is
different from the setting under Tools > Options > Spelling and Grammar,
which applies to all documents opened (but does not override the
text-specific settings).

If this is the problem, you can clear the problem up by selecting your
entire document (Ctrl-A) and unchecking the box.

Please, if the problem continues, use Office update, or re-install the product.
Good luck!

How to write vertically in microsoft word

Do this:

1.Select the text you want in Landscape orientation.
2.Click the Page Layout tab on the Ribbon.
3.Click the arrow in the lower right corner of the Page Setup group.
4. In the Apply To list box, select Selected Text or, if you want the entire document, select Whole Document.
5.Click OK.

Or, if you don't want all the text on the page turned, do this:

1. Insert a table with enough columns to enable you to isolate your vertical text in its own column.
2. Put the text in that column.
3. Right-click in that column and select Text Direction.

Now you can turn that text while the rest of the page stays horizontal. You can turn off the table cell borders so they don't print and no one will know the difference.

Hope that helps.
