Either open motor or bad capacitor. if it is a bad capacitor you should be able to start fan by spinning it with a call for cooling. it it has tight resistance it is bad start windings if its free spinning it is open windings

No it shouldn't unless activated by the fan switch. If the fan switch is activated, then probably not enough freon in the system.

Air condition motor not going on

check to see if the fan is running if not it has frozen up over the winter. turn off fuses to a/c unit then try to turn fan by hand,if not soak down fan bearings with penetrating oil like PB Blaster keepmoving fan blade back and forth until it spins freely. Then try turning on the power to a/c unit if motor then turns fan freely , shut it down again and use a good coat of a-1 motor oil (ELECTRICAL) on the fan brgs. This should get you through for another year or so. On the other hand if fan will not spin by the motor now but spins by hand then the fan motor is bad.

Air conditioning fan wont work

Test the fan with a wire hooked direct to the fan motor then touch the other end to the battery positive terminal. If it hums or does not spin replace the fan. If working the relay is at fault

I have an old Tempstar air condition and when I turn it on the compressor runs and the fan looks like is is wanting to turn but it quits. HELP me

Check the voltage on the fan connections. Bad connections cause resistance to current. If connections & voltage are good than the problem is probably your fan motor if its clean from dirt/grease/dust etc. Plug off the unit and try to spin fan blades with a pencil and observe if rotor is turning freely. If its spin normal than again your fan motor is not good.

If its try to spin on its own when the units turned on and creates excessive heat, this indications generally pointed an abnormal resistance problem at the circuitry or on the power consumed points of the unit.

Fan won't spin due to bracket broken

I would try . You can usually find the bracket there. Or a universal retrofit. Good luck.
